Yep that's what's happening to my buttonquails.
Ever since the female went broody, she hates seeing her hubby. Whenever he gets close, she makes that angry chirping sound, warning him to go away.
It got even worse when the first chick hatched this morning, and the dad wasn't allowed to see...
This may not be big enough for 4 adult button quails plus a couple of more babies, I have a cage about the same size, and the male was quite aggressive toward the second female (Goldie), that's why I had to give her away.
What type of cage does she have? I have mated pair (tuxedo and white) which may have few babies in the next week, I am planning to give all of them away since I will be moving out the country. If she is interested, I will post here again when they are ready to be re-homed.
Giving away our beloved female button quail, she is 12 weeks old and her name is Goldie. She is currently staying with a mated pair of buttonquails, and they expresses aggression toward Goldie. We have to constantly take her out, but we don't have another cage to put her.
Goldie is super...
No mating behavior observed yet, they are currently 8 weeks old.
I made some recording of their calls, can someone help me identify their sexes? They all sound the same to me...lol

I had a male earlier but he escaped and was attacked by neighbor's dog, and I haven't heard any caw caw caw since then. They all groom each other, but never share treats with anyone else. Any other behavioral traits I should be looking for?
Hi guys, I am new to raising button quails, and I need some help identifying their sexes. They were really pissed when I pulled up their tail for photo...
