Came home from work today and couldn't find one of my ladies. Finally found her sitting all alone in the middle of the yard (concerning enough) and not moving. She ran off and wouldn't let me pick her up until she went into the run and I knew there was something wrong by the way she was acting...
😱 Oh my gosh! I didn't even think of that! I wondered what happened to her. The 2 guineas do always fly up onto the roost instead of using the ramp. Maybe she bumped her head?
8 eggs from 18 hens. But 11 of those are just at laying age while the others are pros. The white egg I got from my poor bantam today could be counted as 2 though.
I'm a new guinea owner and have had my guineas since March. They are both ladies I believe, but recently one of their heads have acquired a green tint. Like mossy green. Should I be concerned about this? I haven't found anything so far by researching. Help would be appreciated!
I am in the northern hemisphere. Middle Tennessee. My main concern is her health. None of my other hens sit and sing without laying. Maybe its a quirk?
As a side note, she's not very good about being a chicken. I often watch her watch the other chickens. I can throw out bread and she'll peck...
Congratulations! I was so excited when my girls laid their first egg, especially my little RIR bantam! Still waiting on my golden laced polish to lay one, but oh well, lol.
I was just confused because she was sitting and singing but not laying. I THINK she may have laid 1 about a month and a half ago, but it might have been one of my other EEs. My RIRs, bantam and other EE are still laying regularly. I just don't want something to be wrong with her. She's such a...
Emmy, a hen we adopted in August (who I think was an April chick but not 100%) has been sitting in the nest off and on for over a month and singing when she comes out....but there's no egg! This morning I sat with her the entire time to make sure my dog hasn't been eating it (which she is...
I'm not sure about her age, my sister had a neighbor who was letting her fend for herself, the rooster had already disappeared. So I begged to take her in. She was very undernourished when we got her so I had a hard time telling how big she was supposed to be.
So I went out to the coop to gather up what the girls had laid this morning and I got a surprise egg and I'm not sure who might've laid it? Its half the size of my Red girls eggs and its green and white speckled? I have 2 bantams...a RIR and a Polish Crested, 3 RIRs, 2 EEs and 2 guinea hens...
Yeah my brain had forgotten that post. I'm going to leave them in the coop/run for a couple of days I guess. I gave them multiple nesting box options and found 2 eggs in my old dog house today accompanied by a chicken 😂.
