Thanks for the info! I was just shocked when my chicks hatched black and white lol. When I got them I was told that the father was a RIR and mom was a Deleware. I didn't know if it was common or not to have those colors. Like I said before some of them were red and some white. Still trying to...
I just had some chicks hatch today! Whoo hoo! My question is how did I get black baby sex links from a RIR roo x deleware? I see a bit of red around eyes and chin on one of them... would that be a girl? I did get some reds and whites ,I've read how to tell those apart. I hope I am asking on the...
The first swim was earlier today , we did NOT have a good time. But later on this afternoon we tried again and they seemed to be enjoying it alittle more. I watched them the whole time and dried them off after. I think I could really go over board on these little fellas I said the same thing...
Here's a closer picture of one of the bills. Can't do a lot better as my ducks seem to have been hatched knowing kung fu!
Also is there a way to tell male from female at this age?
This is my first time to ever have ducks... so please bear with me.These lilttle ones are supposed to be just over a week old. They are mostly grey with some yellow- bills are dark grey with a pinkish tip- legs are dark grey with yellow feet.
Is it possible to tell what sex they are at this...
Not sure about what he may have looked like. We just got him yesterday afternoon. Try the topic "What Breed Or Gender Is This" https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=15
Those guys are real good at helping figure out what gender you may have.
Don't know if this is what you guys are talking about or not , but I crossed my Buff Orp Roo with my black Orp Hen and my baby was a very pretty dark choc color.
Here is my brand new EE Roo. Got Him yesterday so he's still a little shy.Haven't named him... any ideas?
Our hen Ms.Priss she rules the hen house!
And our young'uns. Who are still camera shy lol
Still trying to get pictures of them all. Will post more later
This is my favorite roo- Buskshot
And a chick we hatched about a week ago.Buckshot is it's daddy and mommy is a black giant we have named LuLu. Gonna name it coco,we don't know yet if it's a he or she lol. It has " dark chocolate" coloring.
I also had that problem with the same brand bator , but being a newbie I didn't know any better lol. I found out after I got one that worked you can "feel" the motor running when you touch it- if it's working. And I hatched 31 out of 42 eggs after that happened!
I'm not sure about dad just that they had game chickens so I'm just going to continue on the guess that they are all a game mix and that's fine with me . They are adorable. Just had so many people calling them different things lol thought I'd give all you guys a stab at it. I did go and look at...
Game mix..... that makes sense. How do I tell the difference in their combs? The chicks are sooooo cute . Guess that's why I love the mutt mixes so much lol. Thank you guys! That's just the first of a few of my chickens I can't identify. The fellow didn't want to take care of 'em anymore so I...
These were given to me with mom at 3 days old. They are now 2 weeks old. The only clue I have is that they could possibly be game. This is just 3 of the 10 and they didn't want a picture taken! I forgot to point out the leg colors... weird looking.
i'll try moving her and the chicks to a larger nest area and see how that goes. we had only just treated them for lice/mites just before she went broody so i sure hope that's not what it is. thanks so much for a speedy reply! I'll let you know how it goes.
Good morning , everyone! Here's my problem. One of my hens hatched her eggs on May 18th and every morning since then when I go to feed and check on everyone she had smothered one ( that's 3 so far) during the night on the nest. Should I take them from her and place them in my brooder? Or could...
