Oh yeah mine are much smaller. They are on screened in porch in brooder now. It’s 83 in there without lamp on (which I will turn on before I go to bed) I hope no cats, snakes, mice, rats, raccoons etc. break into the porch much less the brooder

Thank you! Yeah I was cleaning the chick container once daily or more and the smell was still really getting to my family. I will probably keep ducks inside the same for a week or two if I can stand it then to the screened porch they also go until they make their way to the farm!

Mine will be on screened porch tonight for the first time, there are 12 In the brooder and I have a light. It does have a top with wire covering. I’m just so terrified something will break into the porch and get the top off or under it.

That’s what we were thinking. The only thing I worry about is snakes and rats but I mean they would have to work to get into the porch to begin with.

Also- I can’t read anymore on google- so since they are shut in a bedroom- does that mean it could still go airborne through the house by the shavings dust and food? I don’t even know now how to clean the brooder without possibly spreading it .

Okay so it’s not like we already have it in our house or anything? It sounds like if you go anywhere near a chicken you will get it. My kids step on ground that has it all the time and you know kids put their hands in their mouth and come in contact no matter how clean you are or what you do.
