Thanks Eggcessive!
Alisha I'm glad your duckling grew to be a beautiful duck.
My Austalorp is still in with the rest of the group acting normal. I'm so glad there has been such a quick resolution. I've learned some new things so next time I will be able to act more quickly to help next time I...
Amazingly enough, my little pullet is doing much better this morning. I let her have some protected social time with her buddies this morning. She was doing so well, I put her back in with them. They did great and she actually seems much less stressed than when she was separated. She went right...
Two days ago I found my 7 week old Australorp chick hiding behind the waterer. I took her out, concerned she was being picked on for some reason. When I set her down on the floor she twisted her head up under her to where it was facing back towards the ceiling. She then started moving backwards...
Hi, my name is Carolyn (zookyla) and I live in Santa Fe, TX. This is my first adventure with chickens. I work at a zoo and have taken care of our chickens at work for the last 8 years, just never had any of my own. I adopted these three from work after we ordered a group of chickens from...
I'm going to miss it! I was really looking forward to it but I had car problems this week. I don't feel comfortable taking it out of town until I can get it fixed. I hope you all have a great time! I look forward to hearing all about it. Hopefully I can make it next year.
Tomorrow is National...
from Texas! You're going to love having chickens. I started out with 3 started pullets and recently acquired 6 chicks. Raising chicks has been an new adventure. You will find this forum to be a wealth of great information!
Hi Monica,
Welcome to BYC from a fellow Texan! I live in Santa Fe, TX. I would build a protective run and only let the chickens free range when you can watch them. I think the dog could be trained to accept the chickens as members of the "pack". Don't have much advice for you about the cats...
This is my first time raising chicks. I got mine almost a week ago and put some sticks in for roosts this week because they kept roosting on the feeder. I changed feeders and added the sticks. Some are roosting and some are not.
I hope I can make it. I won't have any eggs to trade but I might have some young cockerels to rehome if any of my 6 straight run chicks turn out to be roosters. I look forward to meeting some of the Texans on BYC!
