If your run & coop are built correctly, you have nothing too worry about from a fox...no need to kill it for just approaching to snoop.....it shouldnt ne able to get in either the run or coop.......just wishing he had food...but unable to get to the chickens......unless you skimped out building...
I use pellets due to the loss of edible feed in crumbles.....Mfr proccesing creates too much fines ...that and the chickens tossing feed out of feeders that is too small to eat....pellets are easily the best bang for the buck$$👍👍👍 Try sifting crumbles with a screen sifter and xou will see how...

Being familiar with the airsoft BB's, they are very brightly colored and easily visible, even in small pieces...don't think not being seen is a problem at all...separating causing stress, put several together instead of 1 single....better than with ALL the others searching poop in a large run...
You might want to isolate the chick for a few days too make poop checks a lot easier vs. checking all poop from others.....Most likely any kitchen oil would help, but no more than a few drops on its food soaked in....diareah wont help pass it...fibre will...keep lots of water available

Plan on using 2" thick foil backed foam insulation board....sold in home depot in 4'x8' sheets....you can cut to size & spray glue it on...Minn is brutal...Heat lamps are the #1 cause of coops burning down...keep them securely FIXED hanging 6' or so from the floor...try using the 125 watt bulbs...
