Thank you for your detailed reply! I do not know what the white parents were sorry. I do know the breeder had separate pens for the white australorps so I think he came from that. From what I have learned, australorp are recessive white. So if I breed him I guess I will either get no white...
Hi from down-under 👋🏼 I have two purebred australorp cockerels and do not think I can keep both. One is a white and the other is splash (pictured). They are from heritage lines. I have blue, black and splash hens and I am wondering which cockerel would be the best to keep based on the colouring...
Hello,
I’m seeking opinion on the gender of this 9.5 week old blue australorp. Comb and waddles are redder than others but I can see any saddle feathers coming through?
thank you 😊
Apart from the mess, her vent looks normal (not red). She is VERY smelly though. Her crop isnt obvious, like she hasn’t eaten. I think I can feel some water in there though. They normally free range every day and are fed a layer pellet,
Scraps and scratch occasionally. The egg porridge I made...
I have a beautiful Orpington just become POL. Her and her two brothers had very dirty bums so I wormed them and have been treating them for coccidiosis with amprollium for a week. The brothers have since gone to a new home and the hen has become unwell in the last 2 days. I’ve continued the...
Hello, my two silkies and have come into action and I’m wondering if I was to breed them, what I am likely to get, colourwise? It’s a grey roo over a partridge hen. I’m new to silkies so any advice appreciated. Not after show quality just after a variety of colour for my flock.
Thank you
So interesting thank you!! She’s my old girl and most of her eggs are infertile. I’m so amazed she can produce such beautiful boys. Thanks for confirming I probably won’t get any hens with barring. It’s a shame but maybe I’ll need to get me some Plymouth Rocks 😆
That’s interesting from memory the chick came from a white egg which makes sense it was either from the leghorn or ancona. I snuck out to the hen house to get a pic of my leghorn. She has the occasional black feather come thru her white plumage
Hello, I have a purebred black australorp rooster who produced the barred cockerel in the photo below. The hen was either a blue australorp, Ancona or (hybrid) leghorn. Does anyone know how they produced the barring and if it would be possible to produce hens with barring from these breeds...
My white leghorn hybrid hen and black australorp roo produced this little beauty. Its 6 weeks old and I’m thinking roo with the red in its comb. It’s Mum has a huge floppy comb (not the hen pictured) so I’m after other opinion. Thank you 😊
