Mating season is horrible most times.... my girls have bare necks, some boys never lose the hormonal drive and some can be violent and I know of a few who have killed the female, I usually seperate my males to protect the girls during mating season
Cayuga go white with age but I have 2 males who are 8 years old and still totally black, I have a mixed 1/2 cayuga hen who looks a lot like this one though
In over 22 years of rescuing ducks & chickens, they still find ways of testing my knowledge and I still get stumped by things, each one is different and unique, I absolutely love them all and know I can't save them all (or keep them all) but they test my wit, my patience, and my heart daily...
I am so very sorry, If you ever have questions I run a small duck/chicken rescue in Pennsylvania and freely give advice, the rescue and I are one Facebook too Ducks are a passion for me
I have been rescuing ducks and chickens for 22 years and run a small rescue for them as well, I believe you can never learn enough when you truly love animals, I am always willing to help share my knowledge of them and enjoy learning more!
