She has not walked or stood, but did have a big poo. So, thinking not egg bound. i pulled out both wings, and one wing she draws back in, the other not as much. I didn’t feel for inflammation yet. You’ll feel a notable difference, if swollen? I think it’s an injury, as she has been fine up until...
i just don’t think that is the case here, only because my friend has fed her 80 to 100 chickens this mix for years and she is very particular. I’ve also been feeding my flock this for 18 months. I’m still a newbie, so correct me if I’m wrong.
Her tail is up and she seems to want to push.
She is about 18mos. She eats a special mix of food provided by local farmer. My friend raises chickens (has over 80) and that is the same feed she gives hers. she also has oyster shells. Did not see any injury, unless it’s internal. She is pushing likes she wants to lay.
Chicken was fine this morning. found her on her side, leg out and wing out, almost like sunbathing, but she was‘nt moving. Picked her up, been in same position all day. Alert, drinking and eating. She is pushing with tail up like she want to lay. Gave one epsom bath. Tried to rub her belly, but...
I’m actually not sure of her breed. I’ll attach a pictur. She came from a farm with many different breeds, so probably a mutt. 😆 she is the largest by far.
Thanks for your reply. She is doing much better. No limp anymore, I think she just bruised her leg or something. She is low on the chicken pole..lol. No blood being draw. I’m watching that closely. She has been ostracized from the flock, which I don’t know if that is normal, but hopefully...
I have hen that is having her first molt and it’s a real doozy. I noticed today she is limping a bit and to top it off being bullied. Because you’re not supposed to handle a molting chicken, due to the pain of the new feathers coming in, I don’t know how to separate from the rest of the flock. I...
I’m so lucky to live by an Amish community. I was able to get a 4 x 8 coop, that has two windows, a metal roof a man door, etc. $540. I did get it last year, but i Don’t think the price would be much differen, as they cut and mill their own lumber.
I have six hens, 3 RIR’s, 1 Austrlorp, 1 Leghorn, and 1 mystery hen named Hazel. Hazel is special. She is a big girl, a real big girl! Hazel also was blessed with one fuzzy butt- (she might be part Orpington). Due to the fuzziness of her nether regions and much to Hazel’s despair, she has had...
my chickens LOVE oatmeal! But, I have a secret recipe🤫, well, I guess it’s not secret. After you cook bacon and remove from the pan, take oatmeal and put it in the grease. Use enough oatmeal so the grease is evenly distributed. Your chickens will go nuts. I call this chicken crack!
