Chicken was fine this morning. found her on her side, leg out and wing out, almost like sunbathing, but she was‘nt moving. Picked her up, been in same position all day. Alert, drinking and eating. She is pushing with tail up like she want to lay. Gave one epsom bath. Tried to rub her belly, but not sure what I’m doing down there. Please help.

Hi there.
How old is she, what does she eat?
Egg bound symptoms is usually a different stance, not laying down. Could she have had an injury?
She is about 18mos. She eats a special mix of food provided by local farmer. My friend raises chickens (has over 80) and that is the same feed she gives hers. she also has oyster shells. Did not see any injury, unless it’s internal. She is pushing likes she wants to lay.

Do you feel an egg? It could be a lash egg shes struggling with but it impossible to know.
Do you know what's in the feed? Some foods can compound genetic issues.

Cracked corn, grains, etc. not exactly sure. I can’t feel anything, but haven’t really done a thorough exam.

You would be able to feel it if she was bound, a lash egg not so much. How do her eyes look? Ask your friend what's in the food, it's very difficult to formulate successful homemade feeds that have the required nutrition for chickens. Her symptoms also could be a sign of vitamin deficiency.

i just don’t think that is the case here, only because my friend has fed her 80 to 100 chickens this mix for years and she is very particular. I’ve also been feeding my flock this for 18 months. I’m still a newbie, so correct me if I’m wrong.

Her tail is up and she seems to want to push.

You might have to lube up a finger and feel around, it could be a lash egg or a soft shelled egg. Here's some info on egg binding.

I dont wan't to doubt your friend,
but having many chickens for a long time doesn't mean one knows nutrition, I'd ask her about her mix. There are several feed experts on here that can calculate the ingredients and give a nutritional profile.

I think she has a wing injury. Her right wing is tight against her body, while her left wing is more in a drooping position. See photo.
