Would you recommend a certain brand of food? We shop at tractor supply for our pet needs. I keep telling myself that..that “I’m doing my darndest” but these girls are giving me a run for my money!! I do love them as does the rest of my family and hate the thought of culling anyone but I know it...

Yes, we have been having issues with our girls pecking at eachother. We are looking into giving a few away 😢 We thought we had enough room and have given them some enrichment toys but they aren’t interested. We have 10 and all but three are missing feather. My assumption is that the three better...

LONG Update on Opie: She has laid an egg each days since I helped her lay the first one on Monday, after not being able to for 2 days. The first two were accompanied with small blood clots and she hasn’t had one since. She has, however, had light pink discharge occasionally. Yesterday (Wednesday...

This is very helpful info. Thank you. I so appreciate it. I don’t have any amoxicillin on hand. I do have colloidal silver...? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I also read something about a fish antibiotic you can get at the store. Would either of those work? I will rub some coconut oil on the hard stuff tomorrow. She...

ALERT!! Graphic images!!! Here is where we are at with Opie. I was able to help assist in the egg-laying but it was a normal egg that she lays any other day. Pics are of what her vent looks like now. She is still trying to push and pushed out a blood clot. I tried cleaning her vent with a...

    Bloddy vent

I took this pic of her today. I don’t think it is egg matter. When I was inserting my finger it feels like the gritty stuff is around the edges of her inside lining. I also thought she had white poop stuck so I gently tried to wipe it away from the center of her vent but it felt like part of her...

She is still bleeding but much less. I was able to get her wound to stop bleeding which was the main source of blood in the above pictures and now the little bit of blood that she has is coming from within her vent. Could damage from an egg on Friday be causing swelling now and blood when she...

I gave her a tums last night and some water with electrolytes in it. She won’t resume drink. She did eat though. I had to go into her vent to feel the egg. Not far maybe an inch.

So she has definitely gotten pecked and that created the wound but I believe the main problem is that she is eggbound. She has been trying to lay since yesterday. I just soaked her in epsom salt and felt the egg. She has been trying to lay but can’t. She has been pooping but not a ton. Just a...

So my son came in and told me one of our girls had a bloody butt and the other chickens were pecking at here. I went out and this is what I found. Yesterday we had an egg coated with blood but I didn’t see any problems with any of the girls. She hasn’t laid today and I’m wondering what could...

I appreciate all the advice given and it seems to be working. I have kept my girl in a crop bra for 3 days now after giving coconut oil and a massage. Today it seems pretty empty. How long do you advise to keep her in the bra?

Okay...and should I continue to keep her isolated from eating anything? What about the bra...should I keep that on her? This is a picture of her now

Good morning. Yesterday I kept my girl, Willow, from eating but kept her on water. I did put her in a crop bra and it seemed to help in deflating her crop quite a bit throughout the day. Last night I let her in with the flock and this morning when I went to care for her she didn’t have a...

I apologize, the sole purpose of my post was to ask if I should place a crop bra on her and completely forgot to do so. I was unsure if her crop is hanging too low to even empty. I did read this article amongst other articles throughout the last two days. Some have said to isolate her so she...

Hey everyone. I have a girl who I think has sour crop. Though her crop doesn’t smell it is fIairly full in the morning. I noticed it the day before yesterday and read up on some things. Yesterday I vommited her(now I’m hoping that wasn’t a bad idea) and kept her from the flock but did give her...

How long to feel better after sour crop recovery?

Hello. I am sorry to hear about your girl and I really hope she starts to feel better. I am struggling with a hen myself who I think has a sour crop. What all did you do to get your girl's crop better?

Us too. Our boys have been praying for the last two days that she would find her way back home. So glad their sweet girl came back. ♥️
