Two days ago, we lost a chicken to what we thought was a hawk due to having had problems with hawks in the past. Today we were able to hear the commotion and saw a large fox inside our chicken coop. It easily hopped over our fence which is decently high. Our chickens were thankfully able to...
Hello! i realize this thread is nearly 2 years old, but i am facing the same type of issue with aquarium snails and wondering if you ended up feeding them to your chickens? How did it go?
After being mislead on what snails i got from petsmart, and some problems that have come along with that, i have come to the decision i have to get rid of the snail. I don’t want to kill it for no reason so i’m wondering if my chickens will enjoy it as a snack. Can they eat apple snails from my...
That is a common misconception, the water is pretty discolored because of the Indian almond leaves that release tannins into the water! The brown water mimics his natural environment and is beneficial. Thank you for your concern though!
I know this might not be the best place to post this, i thought i’d try.
I rescued a betta fish a few weeks ago, and he seemed a bit stressed from the beginning. i have done 25% weekly water changes and he has lots of silk plants, a log hide, indian almond leaves, and the tank has a filter and...
Thank you so much! I also didn't know about the dust, but the place I am planning to put the cage is pretty large and I don't think clogging things would be too much of a problem there. What an adorable bird you have too!
I am considering getting a cockatiel, but I am unsure whether to get one or two birds. If anyone could share some advice it would be much appreciated!
I will be away for about 4-6 hours for school during the week, however, there will always be at least one person home at all times. I have lots...
Interesting! i have heard one of the four bigger ones quack, but not the little one. However, he (or she i guess!) is still growing so that may be the case! Thank you so much for the input i hadn’t thought of that
A few days ago, 4 of our 6 mallards, who were raised for release after being abandoned, flew off to a pond nearby. The other two stayed around in the stream on our property. Today one flew away in the direction of the pond where the others are, but since the last one cant fly yet he was left...
For our flock, we have a bucket ( i think it’s 2 or 3 gallons?) that gets filled about every other day and we scrub out the dirt and grime with a little bit of soap and a good rinse. A little less often we will clean it with a little bit of bleach to disinfect, making sure that we rinse it super...
I had 6 mallards who we rescued from abandonment and they are currently 11 weeks old. We would have released them sooner but one was late to develop his flight feathers and we wanted them to stay together. Currently, two have flown away and are on their own, and we are left with 4. We will be...
