Did your tastes change, or did you ever like it? I've never liked fish, but about every ten years or so I'll try it again to see if my taste buds have altered. So far, nope - it's always vile.
I like arborio rice for risotto and jasmine rice for fried, which are the only two rice dishes I like. I'm not a rice fan.
Wait! Horchata is great, and rice pudding is okay. I haven't made either of those in ages though - I've forgotten what rice I used to make them.
Speaking of your mink oil idea, I just had a thought; I raise my birds for meat and have some slaughter days coming up at the end of next month. I wonder if it would be possible to harvest oil from the carcasses? I'll need to think on this.
My husband is much better at optimism than I am, and keeps telling me to give it time and maybe it'll get better. In the meantime, my brain is screeching at me that Tex may experience a buildup of oil under his skin that can't release itself and die of complications from that. I'm distracting...
I never in a million years thought I'd be asking this, but does anyone here know a source for diapers for a grown gander? It looks like my favorite boy may have lost his oil gland (and ability to stay dry), and I'd just as soon be able to bring him in with me on rainy winter days so that the...
I picked up Hans to look for his oil gland, just to compare. This is his . . .
. . . and this is Tex's.
Not looking good.
I found a picture online and pasted it on top of an earlier picture of Tex's injury for easy comparison. Looks like I'll definitely have to figure out how to...
If you ever need to process a bird or birds again, you can always schedule processing day for the day before trash pickup day to save you a step and freezer space.
I feed the scraps to the chickens; they know to hang around while I'm processing and will even drink up the blood if I collect it in a dish for them. Sometimes I'll boil rice in the blood and feed that to my animals as a treat. The organs I don't like to eat and the feet are turned into dog...
It's for the same reason you're not allowed to pick up trash on your property and dump it onto mine. I wind up having to shoot a lot of animals people "humanely moved" rather than shooting themselves. What's weird is I'm not allowed to charge those people for my time and bullets.
