I'm fairly new to buying/selling chickens outside of a store setting, so I'm not that versed in fair prices. What would you all say is a fair price for coop ready (8 weeks or older) barred rock pullets? Or what would you be comfortable paying?
I have three 3 week old barred rock babies. Does anyone have guesses for their genders? None of them stand apart from each other at all really, none have more white than any of the others. In the picture with two chicks, the front one looks brighter, but it was just in the sun and the one behind...
Update! Tests came back a little earlier than I thought! Paint is a male, black is a female.
Hello! We've got two 7 week old silkies who hatched together. We ordered a gender test for them, which should be back with results any day now. So I thought for fun I'd see what people think they might...
We introduced the collar slowly, but there's been zero issues so far! It significantly lowers the volume of his crow, and if my neighbors care, they have never complained. There's a chicken farm on the other side of our neighborhood with roosters, so it's a normal sound here! One of my neighbors...
Some months ago I posted on this forum asking for advice telling my two little black australorp chicks apart. We did end up getting one male and one female, and boy are they gorgeous! I am in love with their iridescence, their stature, their dark eyes, their temperaments, just about everything...
So earlier in the year we got some new chick and I am loving watching them grow and mature. Two chicks we got were olive eggers, and I am having a great time trying to guess what breeds went into their bloodlines! One of our girls though, we just have no idea! She's all black with a purpley...
The chicks are about 4 to 5 weeks old now and I'd say it's safe to assume we have one of each now. The suspected male now has a very bright pink comb and is starting to grow matching waddles. He is also very iridescent. The suspected female is much more matte, has a small, pale/black comb and no...
Hi! My name is Marissa, and I'm new here. 😂 My husband wanted chickens for years, and I was always kind of on the fence about it until recently. Our next door neighbors were moving, and had four adult hens that they couldn't take with them. So we decided to jump right in! The original four are...
