I have a full full around the yard where they free range. She could not have gotten over...under...or through with out help. I'm very sad with the lonely quack of her sister wanting her to come home.
She has not come home. Duckie her sister cries all day for her. With no answer I think she has been taken by something. Today I got 2 ducklings. They are in a brooder....she is "special" non dominant so not sure she would be a good mom. So I plan on taking them outside while it is hot to let...
Tonight I went to feed and put the flock to bed. One of my pekin ducks is gone. No feathers nothing just gone. I have one other one who was not the dominant female is fine and usual Duckie. I know ducks dont like to be alone. What should I do? Get a duckling? Wait and see how she acts alone...
I noticed today that one of my BR hens had some black spots on her comb. So I investigated the rest of the flock and 3 out of my 5 have black spots. Ive read that its most likely fowl pox. Do I get the vaccine for the other 2 or let it run its course. They are eating and drinking well and...
I have the small honey bees in and around my feeders. The flock does not seem to be bothered but I would like them to move on. Is this something anyone else has dealt with successfully? I have read bee protein powder away from the coop might help. TIA!
Tonight has been adventure!! On of the BR hens jumped 6 foot straight up on top of the roof of the coop. Took me forever to get her down. Never boring!!!
Well I think I have 4. The one that has been laying liked the top ones. She has always been at the highest she can. One is a roo I think...his comb and waddle havent developed yet.
So much information!! Thank you. Definitely don't want broody hens. Or poopy eggs. My poor flock is use to me trying things and then changing. I promise them Momma will get it all worked out be patient!. 😀
Since my flock has reached egg laying phase I put in nesting boxes. But they normally sleep on top of the inside coop. I have branches for them to sit on but tonight they look lost and wont lay in the nesting boxes. They just are standing on the edge. Should I add another roosting branch?
I have been learning by hit or miss method. I have had the flock for 18 weeks and I promise they all know I'm new to this. I have been reading articles on their breeds which has helped tremendously. So happy my RR has laid 4 eggs now. My RB are being late bloomers. I tried the traditional...
