Mystery chick, supposed to be RIR?

He still looks like a RIR/Polish mix to me. those double combs can happen when a single comb is crossed with a V comb, and his legs have paled considerably.

    chicken cross pheasant?

That looks like a bearded Polish cross to me. Silkie crosses would have some leg feathering, usually blacker skin, and some sign of extra toes. Polish have slate colored legs, can have beards, and have head crests, and all those traits are mostly dominant [crest and beard on offspring will be...

    Are these ear tufts?

A single bird with the ear tuft gene will not produce lethal eggs unless you breed her own tufted chicks back to her or together[having two ear tuft genes will kill the egg], so no worries about that. But those are Beard/Muffs, so no lethal gene at all.

Got some new chickens today, but have no idea what breed they are?

Both are Cochins then :D A Barred and a Blue, they will give all Barred and Blue Barred offspring if bred together. The male offspring will be darkbarred like the hens, though, normally barred males are lighter, but if they only have one barred parent they will have dark barring. The chicks...

Got some new chickens today, but have no idea what breed they are?

Barred Cochin [Rocks don't have feathered legs] and Blue Cochin [or Orpington if legs are unfeathered, can't quite tell, tail looks Cochin]

Input on the breeds in our flock?

The EE in the third picture is a cockerel, he has those large sickle feathers on top of his tail which are a definite cockerel sign, the other [possible] EE [in the final picture] looks like a pullet. Hatchery quality just means bred for production, not looks, not show quality.

I need help figuring out what specific breed my Seramas are?

Serama/d'Uccle crosses. The hen has a beard and feathered legs so she is a Belgian Bearded d'Uccle[also a tiny breed] instead of a Serama, a black mottled one.

what color is this banty cochin?

Yes, though only male birds can have the combination because unlike most mammals, where males have XY and females XX, in birds, males have two Z chromosomes [ZZ] and females only one [ZW], and the Silver gene is linked to that Z chromosome, and can't appear on the W one females have, females can...

    Help please chicken or rooster??

Hmm, a bit of a gray area with that age, might be a slow cockerel, might be a precocious pullet. You'll probably know soon, either way. A cockerel will be growing in his big boy feathering around that age and a pullet would be close to laying eggs with such a red comb. Keep an eye out for eggs...

what color is this banty cochin?

The red might be due to the color not being entirely pure. A Birchen has the sex linked Silver gene which removes golden pigment and thus turns golden feathers to white, but if they are mixed with a golden female then the males get a single silver gene and a single golden one. Silver is dominant...

    EE Sex

Typical pullet coloring on that girly :D. A very pale comb too. I'm definitely thinking female.

what color is this banty cochin?

Looks like a possible Birchen[or a dark Blue Birchen] to me. Birchen looks very similar to Black on chick down, dark chick with pale belly, but as adults they have laced neck/chest feathers.

    Help please chicken or rooster??

It appears to be a mixed breed, looks like a cockerel but I am unclear of the age since you said two different things! Probably a Light Brahma crossed with something that has yellow legs[pink ones would be dominant in the offspring] and a single comb. That extended black on the neck and tail...

    What breed is my roo?

Definitely looks like some of the hens have blue, yeah, might even get the occasional splash patterned chick from them then :D.

11 week old silkie - help me figure out the gender I beg you !!

It's a blue silkie, looks like a pullet atm but silkies are really hard to tell. The pretty blue earlobes are normal on silkies :D

Input on the breeds in our flock?

for the black bird, look at the soles of the feet. If they are pink she is most likely an Australorp, but if they are yellow she is most likely a Jersey Giant. The bearded roo is an EE, your little bantam roo is possibly a Dutch bantam mix, due to the white earlobes, not a pure Dutch bantam...

    What breed is my roo?

Yes, the black EE will likely give black chicks or mostly black with some red leakage with this roo. Though your boy looks like he might have a blue gene, his marks look blue-gray rather than really black, a single blue gene turns all black to blue[two turns all black to 'splash'], so mostly...

    Easter Eggers Roo or Hen???

^Agree, none of them have the really telltale deep red shoulders. A salmon breast can be on females, too.
  19. Griffinsong

    What breed is my roo?

The more silver looking EE hens will most likely just give red sex link chicks with him, though they might have some random patterning.Hens can't carry gold if they already have silver, since the gene is sex linked. Silver is dominant and will reduce most of the gold if there is only one gold...

    Pullet or Roo?????

Cockerel, and he is a mixed breed. His earlobes look to be partially white, and cochins should have yellow or blackish[on dark colors] legs, not pink, but the pink legs are dominant so he is crossed with something with pink legs and probably white earlobes.
