Behaviour of hen before laying first egg?

She has laid everyday. She has her nest box that she uses. She only laid her first one outside as she had been in my lap. She had wanted to be held and carried on with each egg until this morning. This was her 4th egg. She made no fuss and just went in her box and laid her egg.

    Rubber mat coop flooring?

I have rubber mats all over my chicken coop floor(wooden floor under). Easy to sweep and I just wash them off every day. Cleaning is a snap with these mats. I put Diatomaceous earth under the mats each time.

    Heating coop

I keep an electric heater going in my coop(cuts off if moved or falls over). It has a thermostat. I live in North Carolina where it may be 40 this morning and 80 by lunch time(I have a ceiling fan and window fan for the heat). I will probably use this all winter long. Am I wrong in doing this.

    Rubber mat coop flooring?

I use rubber matts. I love them because I just hose them off every day so my coop stays clean (clean as a chicken coop could be)

    Golden Buff vs. Golden Comet

In the South, I always heard of Golden Comet. Never heard Golden Buff until I ordered from Meyer Hatchery. They look and act exactly the same to me. My little Golden(Comet/Buff)is the sweetest, friendliest, loving little chicken I have ever seen. She loves to sit in my lap and perch on me.
