I have four 17 week old light brahmas and one of which I think is a cockerel? Thoughts? He has the most comb development for a while now and also the most undefined tail. No pointy feathers as of now. Am hoping for a rooster. Thank you in advance 😊
I just wanted to give an update. She lost the very tips of her comb but the rest is back to normal. She is laying eggs again and healed up well. Thanks got all the knowledge. I will add better ventilation. I also bought a humidity measuring thing to put out there. Here is a picture it is...
No she is still her same self. My flock hasn’t laid for a couple weeks very cold get one or two eggs every once in a while. We have 10 chickens. She is the only one with any frostbite. My other leghorn has a bit smaller comb and she is fine. I have a question if next year she were in a heated...
I live in MN it is cold. My leghorn chicken has something wrong with her comb. I thought it was frostbite but it is blistering white and green. No black. What is going on? Please let me know. My coop is not heated but has insulation. I have a covered run and a non covers run. They go outside...
Hi couple questions. So this is my first batch of chickens. I have ten got them as baby chicks last April. They are almost a year old. Is it normal for them to molt already?? I had one start and now two more. We live in mn so it gets cold. It is the head, neck, and tail feathers that are falling...
She is 7 months old. I feed layer ration crumbles. I have ten total birds. They are all the same age/gender. I haven’t noticed any abnormal poop or such. I can’t separate her she would get too cold. As it gets below freezing at night. The food is 18 protein and they can eat at there own intake...
One of my leghorns has not been herself this past couple days. Her comb is pale and she keeps her head buried in her body. It is getting colder but my other chickens are okay. She still lays eggs every so often. I am currently stuck with the problem of boredom. Just so you know advice would be...
One of my Dominique hens has a numb on her beak like your polish chicken. It has been there for a couple months now and hasn’t really caused any problems. It is starting to go down now. As for the rest I have no idea.
Hi an update on my dilemma. I got a culvert it is 37” so I think they will be fine walking through it. We attached it to the coop now we need to build the hoop coop we are doing it tomorrow.
Definitely hens. Look at cackle hatchery it is where I got them. The Roos look very different. I let three out for about an hour with supervision. All of the sudden a raven or a crow comes circling. I made noise and scared it away. Scared me half to death. Don’t even know if they eat chickens...
I am going to allow them out supervised every week or so until I can expand. Will they be mad though when I make them go back in? I’d this a bad idea? It is my only optio though. Thoughts they will never be fully free range as our beagle would kill them also other predators.
