    Bulging crop hard, chicken lethargic

I have a buff orpington hen, the smallest of the bunch, who got into a bag of whole corn, possibly alfalfa pellets and grit I think. The day after, her crop was massive and hard. Today she is less lethargic but seems to have a similiar size crop. I don’t want to do surgery!! Is there a solution...

    Chubby Pullet(s)

Hello, I own 6 Buff Orpington Pullets, around 6 months old. One is laying, the smallest of the bunch. All the others are at different points. Some look close to mature, there are a few that are NOT mature at ALL. Since they getting older, I switched to a 16% layer feed. They enjoy alfalfa hay...

    Adding to Flock?

Been doing quite a bit of research, and am getting mixed results about the Buff Orpington, of which I have 6 (19 weeks, approaching POL). I absolutely love the breed's friendliness and personality, but I'm afraid I won't get as many eggs as I had hoped for. I am thinking about maybe next summer...

    The Wait is agonizing!!

I have 6 BO pullets at age 18 weeks. About three are scrawnier, with bright red waddles that have developed quite a bit, and do a squat when I pet them sometimes. The others are bigger pullets, and from my understanding, won’t be as good of egg layers. Any tips/prep, things I should be doing...

Hey everyone! Cleared out my garage and found an old door that must be for chickens back in the day. We were moving our small coop into the third bay of the garage where it is conveniently located. Made a nice setup and my neighbor who happens to be a carpenter made a nice little ladder/ramp to...

    Buff Orpington Roo or Hen?

Hi everyone! New member here! I have a BO almost 17 weeks, the most vocal of the bunch, and I’m not 100% sure it’s a hen. I will put some pictures down below, it’s one of the more scrawny ones and has a really red comb and wattles, farther along than any of them.
