    Infertile eggs

I think my poor goose is sitting on infertile eggs. It is completely the wrong time as winter is coming. We have had very funny wearher and I think that messes with her. We saw them mating so we thought well maybe some are fertilized. Ir has been 28 days now and nothing. Do we take her of the...

My gosling is making a nest

Sorry, I am a very bad goose mummy as I battle to distinguish some. Now it looks as though it may be the mom goose, we will have to wait until she gets out. She is very small and it is only possible for me to see if it is her when she is close as she is the same size as some of the goslings...

My gosling is making a nest

Our goslings hatched on 28 September last year. We are basically in autumn now. Now one of the "goslings" is making a nest. We could not understand why the were all making such a racket every night, now we know it must have something to do with this as usually they are very quiet at night. Of...

Little black goose pushed out of group

No I will not let him starve. We have asked permission from the owner of the plot to fence off anorher part of the plot. Fortunately we had good rain so the grass is growing like mad. So with the pellets we manage to get him to eat he is beginning to look a lot better.

Little black goose pushed out of group

We are in Sout Africa so it is not breeding season . Seperating him is unfortunatey not an optio we do not have the space, through no fault of ours their space got a lot smaller because of the neighbours hitting the gander. We are on a plot with three houses and until this happened there was a...

Little black goose pushed out of group

The problem is we have tried it, but the others just move to that as well and he stands back again. They are 7 others against him, I do not understand it, is it because he looks completely different from the others?

Little black goose pushed out of group

I have problem with one of my "goslings" that seems to be pushed out of the group. He cannot really get to the food and I see the others pecking him. He seems to be losing weight. He is to wild for us to catch him and feed him seperately. I attach a photo from better times when he was still included

    Is my gander too fat

Thanks, I will just relax. I wish I could actually feel his keel but he will not allow it. The duck pellets are available all day and at the moment there is quite a bit of grass, not enough for them to live on but it seems to fill them because they are not eating a lot of the food we give them.

    Is my gander too fat

They are all mixed race with a lot of embden in the mix except for the little black one, but he looks fine. They are not tame enough to pick up and the reason for that is a whole other story too long to tell here. I think he is too fat because his feet hardly sticks out under his body and he...

    Is my gander too fat

I am worried that my gander is too fat. Unfortunately through circumstances beyond my control they do not have a lot of space. The space is enough though for them to run and fly a little. I do not have the facility to feed them seperately. Is it very I feed them duck pellets and a little corn...

My one gosling is beeing bullied

Thank you, he is the same age. He is smaller but he looks quite healthy. Today I actually eat the duck pellets we feed them and the others did not bother him. The vet says the duck pellets are fine. We also feed them some kale and sprouted corn. I will keep looking at him, but it may be that...

My one gosling is beeing bullied

Than you, we have started doing it. We will see how it goes as we also have a problem of birds eating their food. We are going to try and just scatter it over a wide are and see if that helps. To be honest I am sick from worry about my Swart Babatjie (black baby as we call him) He used to be...

My one gosling is beeing bullied

One of my goslings are beiing bullied, even by the goose. It is thr grey one. The others are mostly white with some grey feathers. When I put out feed they initially keeps him away by pecking at him. Iam worried that he does not get enough. They are not tame enough for me to seperate him to...

    Feed problem

They are still watching us from a distace, must say the gander makes sure of they. As far as the feed is concerned we baught the pellets they like and they immediately started eating it. We will just toss the bad food. Lesson learned!

    Feed problem

I know, that is why we are considering just tossing what we have and buying the correct stuff. Fortunately it is not cold out and we are giving some vitamins etc. in their water that is for molting, as the geese and gander is molting, and it has some amino acids in it as well. Their condition...
