Has anyone fried or roasted 3 month old heritage breeds?

I was wondering if anyone processed heritage cockerels and hens around 3 months old? I would like to know if their meat and skin are tender when fried or roasted? I know at 5 months old their meat and skin are like rubber and needs to be stewed or used to make soup. My 3 month old Breese/Dark...

My chicken eating my potato plant................

I have my potatoes growing in pots with a cage wrapped around them, but this does not stop them from eating my plants. However, I think their instincts are kicking in because I don't see them eating it anymore. Anyway, the good news is they are still alive...............I think potatoes and...

Changing a Dark Cornish line into white

I was wondering if any one tried changing a Dark Cornish line into a white Cornish line? This is a picture of my chicks bred from my Dark Cornish rooster and recessive white Plymouth Rock hen. I noticed that all of them had pea combs, and some were on the white side. This gave me an idea, I...

Does anyone know how to tell what gender these chicks are? Not sure if a cross between a Dark Cornish rooster and White Plymouth Rock hen will produce sex links. One chick was chip monk color and the other 3 were yellowish.

One of my hens was broody so I put her in a separate broody cage where I temporarily kept a young crowing rooster. I was adjusting his no crow collar, so I needed easy access to him. On the second day, I notice that his legs were bleeding and the hen was pecking at his legs. He looked...

    Keeping a few Cornish hens.................

Hello, I was wondering if anyone kept a few Cornish cross hens for breeding after they reached the 7 week mark? Has anyone in bred brother to sister from Mcmurrays cornish roasters?

I was wondering if that line can be replicated. They say hybrids can't be bred through, but a new strain can be created by crossing two pure lines, so I think its possible to create a line from the roasters. I have read a post where they crossed a dark Cornish with Mcmurry's roasters and got...

I found a way around my leg shuffling rooster......................

My rooster likes to attack my feet with sneaky leg shuffles, its a good thing he doesn't have any spurs yet. I found that when I grabbed his two legs together and let him flap his wing up right until he got tired, he eventually gave up and hung upside down. I notice he was calm and didn't...

I fed them some year old oat grain that has been sterilized and inoculated with mushroom culture and they ate it. It smelled like it was fermented. I hope they don't get sick.
