Our speckled Sussex one year old roo just died last week. I've had terrible luck with speckled Sussex breed. he was the last remaining of the 5 chicks I ordered last spring. Mind telling me where you bought yours?
The first one looks quite a bit like my speckled Sussex chicks did. The others I couldn't begin to guess. I'm still new to chickens but I don't think they can be sexed at this age.
Just an update the 3rd one is a rooster and beautiful to boot:) the little lavender one is now looking like the other Cochin's we have... And she started laying at 21 weeks. The other little hen just started laying a few days ago and it is a nice light blue egg so I guess she is a clean faced...
Thank you,for responding. I didn't realize hatchery birds could be mixed breeds, but that explains why I couldn't figure out what the litttle lavendar one was
The gold and silver hen really does resemble your hen. She is my favorite.
First is this little baby blue colored 9 week old.he/she seems to be tailess, and has feathered feet. Came from the assorted banty bin at Big R.
Next up is this little blue and gold hen. They sold her to me as a large fowl blrw, but she is now 12 weeks old and is the same size a my other...
Thanks I was really hoping to have a BR roo he is the nicest chick of the bunch. My Hubby says we should call him MR. Wattlecock I am hoping that if more than one of them turn out to be roos that they will get along. does that happen? they will be free ranging in our really big back yard.
HI I'm new to the chicken world and have some 4.5 week old chicks (all sold as pullets) with what I think is gender confusion... first is my BR chicks one fits the pullet description the other seems alittle roo like?
next comes my BO one is huge compared to the other and has a smaller comb...
