I took another pic of my white EE today because I am still wondering about her. I posted some pics of her earlier but there was not a decent comb shot. Is she still looking like a pullet?
Hello - I was wondering if someone could help me determine the gender on these two EE babies. Thanks in advance!
I took two of the white one. S/he was harder to get to hold still.
This is a newbie question as I am pretty inexperienced with incubating chickens. Is it feasible to incubate double yolk eggs? If so, what is typically the result?
Thanks!!
About how long does it usually take them to hatch? He is remaining firm in his shell and the membrane is pretty papery dry. there is a hole big enough for his beak (and a tad more) to poke out but that is about it.
I have never used the incubator before. We just borrowed it from the Ag teacher at our local high school. It is a Hova-bator 2362. I put water in the middle tray section and the temp is about 100.
Is that reasonable?
I have a Pekin duck that has been setting on 12 eggs. She has left the nest with 11 ducklings so I went out and checked her nest and there is one egg still in it and it is half hatched. She doesn't seem to interested in returning to the nest.
I am not sure if I should intervene and if so, how...
One of my BIL's has the commercial farm that they came from and they indeed were "past their prime" although by chicken standards they really shouldn't be. He switches out the chickens there on a fairly regular basis.
I am not sure how old these chickens are and they could very well not produce...
My MIL recently gave us 10 hens and a rooster that they have had since last fall in their horse barn. The chickens originally came from a commericial chicken farm. I believe that the chickens are White Rocks.
The hens are not laying but about 4 eggs a day. They have been enclosed in a double...
No, I didn't see the dog that was responsible however I have a good idea of who it was. We have had trouble with the same three dogs for awhile now.
Before we moved all of our rabbits into the barn we had our bucks in outside cages. I saw two of the dogs out there under the cages and barking...
Thank you for all the responses. Unfortunately when my husband came home from work and we went out to catch her (I am pregnant and therefore needed his help) she had been torn to pieces.
I am so frustrated with the dog situation around here. We have all of our poultry and the rabbit barn...
We can sew and have repaired other injuries in the past. I was not certain if the crop was easily repairable or not. We are going to catch her when my husband gets home from work and examine how badly it is damaged.
I hope it is something we can fix.
We have a Muscovy hen duck that has been attacked by a dog and her crop is torn. She is eating and drinking however the majority of it is dripping from her neck. Does anyone have any ideas as to whether or not we can repair the damage or will she need to be put down asap?
Thanks!
