    Baby chick can't stand up!

What happened in the end? I've got a chick with similar issues right now.

    Finally Australorps

This is Eagle, the last to lay, but also the first to go broody. This is the first time I've ever had a hen go broody on me. I would like to have her hatch some chicks, since I've slaughtered my extra rooster. What are some tips for caring for a broody hen?

    Finally Australorps

We've got names for the flock, now that we spent over 4 months observing them. Introducing: 👑Basileus 'Basil' - our main rooster. The kind, gentle king of his domain. 🦅Eagle - because she looks like one. Piercing yellow gaze, and conspicuously missing her comb and wattles. 👸Jane Grey - the...

    No comb

Sorry to necro an old post but, I've got one Australorp that has the same lack of comb and wattles that it looks more like an eagle than a chicken. Is this common with Australorps?

Australorp with pale comb, lethargy, poor appetite, weight loss

Just did. It's empty. But they're getting starter crumble today so hopefully it gives her the extra boost.

Australorp with pale comb, lethargy, poor appetite, weight loss

The whole flock free range so they get their dose of grit from the soil. I'll go with the starter feed tmrw and see how it goes.

Australorp with pale comb, lethargy, poor appetite, weight loss

Droppings are soft and light green, with the occasional wet brown splotch. Haven't had a chance to check her crop yet as I run off pretty early for school. I'll take a look tmrw. She's weeks away from laying age at 3mths and 24 days old. She's eating fermented feed - soy:rice...

Australorp with pale comb, lethargy, poor appetite, weight loss

My Australorp on the right hasn't been her best in the last week. Her comb is yellow instead of red, moves slowly, hasn't been eating much (crop still filled but not super full), and has no energy to reach the roost at night. No observable blood in stools. Stools look normal, with no...

    Finally Australorps

The pullets are surprisingly ok with me handling them, while the roos are quite flighty (but possibly because they're the newest of the lot)

Lesions on eyelid and lining of beak

So far the other pullets and roos don't seem to be showing symptoms. Let's hope it stays that way.

Lesions on eyelid and lining of beak

That's what I thought at first, but the breeder said they're vaccinated.

    Finally Australorps

Here's my small flock of 5 Australorps. I've been looking high and low for these guys for over 3 years now. I finally managed to get these from a breeder who brought fertilised eggs back from Melbourne and bred from that. They're here with the hopes of eggs and eventually meat, hence my choice...

Lesions on eyelid and lining of beak

Two of my pullets have these strange lesions in the area under their eyes. Top pullet has a respiratory issue, but the bottom one doesn't seem to. Top pullet is a lot lighter than her peers at 290g. The live in a coop with rice husks as bedding. I use a deep litter system. I've currently put...
