    Backyard Grape Arbor.

By: Noelle Moser (Kuntry Klucker) Building a Grape Arbor has been on my to-do list for the past 10+ years. Grapes are an enjoyable crop to grow on your land as they grow very fast, are pest resistant, and are easy to grow. They do require regular maintenance, pruning being the chief...

    Pantaphobia the Rooster.

By: Noelle Moser (Kuntry Klucker) Many people associate roosters with being aggressive nightmarish birds recalled as the barnyard terrors we encountered on our grandparents' farm. Sadly, roosters are often type casted into this role by an unfair association. Roosters are amazing creatures and...

Do polish bantams do well in the winter?

That’s great! Many people guage their flocks comfort by their own doing much more than really needed. Plastic goes along way to aiding your flock in surviving winter. All I do is wrap my coops in plastic and allow them to do they rest. They come factory installed with heavy down winter coats...

That is so true. Who needs the gym when you have chickens. My girls keep me fit, hauling around 50 lb bags of feed is no easy lifting. :)

Had to cull some roosters, how to deal with it.

Thanks so much. I had to cull my boys due to corona as well. I had to make the decision that what I feed during this hard time had to count. Feeding extra boys became a problem and I had to make a hard decision. If I did not cull them the whole flock would not get the nutrition they needed.

Hi everyone, Like everyone else in the world who is dealing wiht covid-19 it has been hard and I have had to make some hard choices. For several weeks I have had a hard time getting ahold of chicken feed. People hordes it and now due to supply chain Disruptions we are limited to 2 bags if we...

Chicken are much more than food or eggs. When I first started chickens I was shocked at the personalities that emerged among the flock. In some cases their personalities developed into their names. As backyard chicken keepers we often become attached to our flock and for good reason, chickens...

Caring for the flock with COVID-19

I thought about that too. Just open the coops and let them take care of themselves. I hate to say that but it may be the only way for them to have a chance at survival.

Caring for the flock with COVID-19

Has anyone given any thought to how they are going to care for their flocks if they get the corona virus? I was just wondering, this is a worry of mine. If we get really sick or even hospitalized, what are we going to do? Does anyone else worry about this? What are your plans? Thanks.
