Thank you so much for the reply.

Your expertise is greatly appreciated.

Hey casportpony,
It was recommended on a thread.
And since I don't have any experience with vent gleet, fungus or chickens for that matter, I'm researching various options.
It's seems any antibiotic will need to be prescribed by a vet in Canada.
And I'm checking to see if fenbendazole that...
Hi
She's a little bird, weighing a little less than 4lbs.
I mixed the 150mg pill in 20 ml of water. So each ml of water should have appx 7.5mg of fluconazole when disolved.
I gave her appx 2 doses a day until it was gone. So, about 15mg per day for 7 days.
Her crop is emptying over night.
She...
I'm looking to see where I can get Metronidazole - seems I need a prescription here in Canada. I'll make a few phone calls - and look for the spray. I'm in a rural area so access to supplies ain't always easy. Thank you for the reply - I'll try my best
I'm in Canada, so I'll try to find them.
Thank you for the information.
I really need some help with this, as I'm a new bird mom and want to help this girl out. I posted a few pics on another reply - to 'confirm' possible gleet.
Jen
Thank you for the information, here's a few pics for your reference.
I appreciate all the information
She got a bath about 8-9 hrs ago and this has accumulated since.
I hope I can figure this out!
It's frustrating! Does it look like gleet to you?
Jen
Hello
Here's a few pics.
For reference, she was bathed about 9 hours ago, this has accumulated since and she has now been washed again for the night. She's otherwise happy, eating, laying more than not and being a normal bird.
I'll post some photos later. She just got a bath, so not much to see right now. But it will build back up throughout the day. Here she is in the sink! She's so sweet
Thank you
Ok - I'll try to find some of those meds. Do you know if they are available over the counter, as access to a vet and/or prescriptions is difficult.
Thank you so much - I've only had hens for a little over a year - so I'm new to all this - but I want to do right by those girls. :)
I just used a 150mg tablet of fluconazole over 7 days to treat vent gleet. It did not work. I need another suggestion as daily baths, ACV, yogurt and Canesten cream is only keeping it at bay and not curing the problem. Been ongoing for a month now.
The Fluconazole did not work. 150mg tablet was given to her over 7 days. No improvement really. I need more help!
What else can I try?
I saw a post about Metronidazole but I've never dealt with gleet before so I don't know what to do.
She's still getting baths and ACV and yogurt. She's laying...
Hello friends
It seems one of my sweet 1-2 year old leghorns has developed a gleet issue.
It's my 1st time dealing with this - all symptoms and online research lead me to believe she has a cloacal fungal infection. The 1st week I bathed her every day, gave plain yogurt, added apple cider...
There was a small brown clot of blood in the egg white and a few red blood specks in the yolk. Maybe a broken blood vessel? Or meat spot as I'm learning these new terms.
Thanks for the reply
Thanks for your reply. When we cracked the egg, there was a small clot of blood in the white and a few specks of blood in the yolk. So it seems it was a broken blood vessel. All good!
I'm not sure what hatchery they came from - We ordered 8 leghorns from a country co-op store and they have the...
Hello
Wondering what would cause this type of marking on an egg. Layed today by a leghorn, 7 months old. It's like she had dynamite for breakfast!
Thanks
I'm new to this site and owning chickens.
Currently have 18 hens (4 leghorn, 6 sexlinks, 4 Rhode Island red and 4 leghorn? with black spots...
