They're getting along great! Thank you guys for letting me know it should be okay to put them together right away.
They've been together since I got replies yesterday and there have been no issues!
We have them in the same brooder now. My husband and I are taking turns watching over them for the time being but so far so good. Only a little bit of nipping and it's more gentle preening nips on the part of Luna like she would give Lucy when we gave them bathtime.
I'll keep you guys updated...
My husband and I have spent the last couple of weeks raising 2 lovely gosling ladies we names Lucy and Luna. Unfortunately Lucy had some health problems, and despite trying everything we could find or think of we found her dead this morning in the brooder.
We know that typically you don't want...
Thank you for the poke and link here @Nifty-Chicken
Life got busy and I dropped off of most socials. Currently, I have my 2 girls that survived the starting small brood my husband and I got that first led us here. We've had several ducks that came and went since then that we're mostly given to...
Yes! Her ankle is almost back to it's normal state already! It's still a tiny bit swollen compared to what it was and she is definitely still favoring that foot so we're keeping her inside till it's fully healed. I just took a picture oh how it is now when she was standing on both feet preening.
Much better! We've found out she just managed to sprain it. It's way less swollen now that it was before, and she's been enjoying having time inside being spoiled. We've gone around outside fixing most areas we can think of that may have been the cause of the sprain to prevent this from hapening...
Hey guys, we have discovered our duck Bean has an injury to her foot, right at the ankle. It's super swollen and I'm not 100% sure what to do right now because I haven't been able to find anything about it in my copy of Storey's guide to raising ducks.
Her non-swollen foot is pictured first for...
Thank you for posting that link for me, it is book marked now. I'll keep an eye on if it happens more than just while the heat wave is here since I think it's at least partially from the stress of that.
Hey all! Bean and Puddles, the other two ducklings from my first posts back in February have been growing well and presumably healthy and have been laying eggs for a little bit now.
When I went to use a few eggs today however, I noticed a couple had blood spots in them. From what I was already...
We have ducks, and my wonderful husband built me a custom duck house for them. We use a sheet of FRP for a poop trap, that fits the floor but can be slid out through a door on the back wall. I just wrinse it off into my garden after disposing of the wood shavings we put over it for them.
I would love help, both for the two babies my hubby and I bought the other day, and an adult that we rescued less than a month ago.
The adult is a male khaki campbell, and has been slowly letting me get closer when I go to feed him. He let me stand 2 feet away from him today, as I brought him a...
I want to thank you all for the advice and help you've given to us over the last 24+ hours, on our issue we've been having.
Unfortunately Tulip has not made it despite our best efforts to clear the blockage and get her/him the sav a chick for nutrients via liquid to help bolster strength...
We went and got the sav a chick, and have been trying to get her to drink again. No where near us has that feeder tube in that size, but we're still looking and trying to find out all our options before moving forward with just trying the other tube like suggestions
Unfortunately looking online for one it doesn't look like I'd be able to get one here before Monday as far as the feeding tube goes, and with how weak the duckling is seeming I don't think we have that long. I'll be going to some animal care stores to see if anywhere nearby might have one.
The poor baby isn't any better this morning and I'm at a loss of what to do. Last night when I was calling vets to check no where nearby has anyone on staff who knows about ducks, not even the emergency animal hospital I used to take my cockatiel to if something was wrong because they HAD a vet...
Yes, I took a short video just now. The poor thing is seeming exhausted and has been struggling like this for a little bit.
Isaac I didn't know that about the pine shavings, they were what was suggested to me by folks I've talked to before about ducklings. They do have shavings for bedding
