    Is this a prolapsed vent?

She's eating, drinking, and active. I wiped it with a cotton ball soaked in warm water and put Preparation H on it. I have two brooders going. I might put her in the one with less chicks.

    Is this a prolapsed vent?

I've had just about everything go wrong between a bad hatch, pasty butt, chicks that almost died and so on. Is this a prolapsed vent?

    Plastic Mesh in Incubator

Thank you all! Update out of 28 eggs, 25 made it to lockdown. Of the 25, I had 5 hatch. One pipped, but didn't make it. I did indeed go out that day (drove an hour and a half each way) to go get some brooder mates for my lone silkie. While I was gone we had one hatch, but she wouldn't have...

    Plastic Mesh in Incubator

You've all been so helpful. Thank you . Several things... we still only have 1 out of 23. Should I run to tractor supply to get one more to keep our girl company while we wait to see what is going on? It's day 25 for the first set and day 22 for the second set. 2. My 5 year old snuck into...

I didn't end up messing with any of them. I was too nervous to kill anything that may have remained.

    Day 24 and 21 (I'm hearing chirps!)

Due to some major shipping delays, I had to start eggs 2 days apart in the incubator. I'm pretty sure the first set (Polish and Silkies day 23) are not going to hatch. I have 22 other eggs that are on day 21 today, and I'm hearing chirping!! Should I remove the first red air plug now? I...

Should I try to sneak one of the silkies out to candle if the rest still have hope?

    Plastic Mesh in Incubator

I hadn't thought of that! I had some issues with the mail, and as a result, my eggs arrived days apart. The 6 silkies (from NJ) that arrived first had to go in Friday. The rest arrived Sunday and went in Monday. So 28 total, 25 made it to lockdown, and 3 are almost past their prime. I'm letting...

    Plastic Mesh in Incubator

The secondary device that I have in the incubator is consistent with the temperature and humidity on the incubator. It's been 99.5 and the whole time. I'll candle tomorrow. It's just so odd that none of them are hatching.

I left them alone. :) I was thinking about the airflow as well. I'm glad that I asked.

It's day 21. No activity whatsoever from any of the eggs. I know to give it a few days. The anticipation is too much!

    DAY 5 CANDLING

I'm so glad that I gave all my eggs more time. I bought 28 eggs and all but 5 ended up making it to lockdown. My (suspected) stats on day 5 and day 13 were much much lower than that!

    Plastic Mesh in Incubator

Hi All, I moved my eggs from the egg turner to the plain plastic mesh in my incubator two days ago. It's now day 20. 1. It's hard to position them to remain large side up, and two should I put a dishcloth or paper towels between the mesh and the eggs? Should I have put something under the egg...
