Yes!😀 Can you tell me what gave it away? I actually thought my paint could be a cockerel because she looks a little different than my partridge. Thanks so much!
Hello there. I’m new to owning silkies. I started with 5 bearded silkies of various colors. One by one they each started to crow. They all started crowing pretty early on. Now I’m left with 2. I am sure my partridge is a pullet but am unsure about my paint. Hatch date was May 1st so it is about...
I’ve been scratching my head wondering why my breeder was telling me it was a splash🤣 Thanks for clarifying. I’m knew to this and have learned so much from everyone here. So maybe, there is hope my black can still be a pullet?🥴 Wishful thinking?
I just had to rehome my little guy yesterday. He looked just like yours! I was told mine is a mix breed. Possibly ameraucana/polish. Have you tried some local feed stores? They may take him in.
@LadiesAndJane, you mentioned black with gold leakage is a cockerel. I’ve been looking online to learn more about it but haven’t seen much out there on this topic. Do only males have gold leakage?
My splash has a beautiful crown but he’s 2xs bigger than the rest of the silkies, large comb, and the crow answered my suspicions. But, hearing from you has really helped. Thanks again!
Mine are all pretty chatty throughout the day, but the flapping from my splash and the three attempts to crow was definitely a sound that has never come out of any of them. Well, we started with 4 and now I’m down to one pullet maybe 2. I think from now on, I may just get DNA sexed silkies.
I’ll try to get a better picture of them tomorrow. My splash started to crow this morning. Is it too early for silkies cockerels to crow at 12 weeks? Would you happen to know if pullets make a crow like sound?
