He’s beautiful. I sure wished I lived in an area where I can keep roosters.This boy started crowing yesterday. He is 3 and half months old, has almost no comb to speak of. I did though send out the egg shell he hatched from for DNA testing, so I knew he was a boy. He has been acting like a boy for the past several weeks. Mine are all pretty chatty throughout the day, but the flapping from my splash and the three attempts to crow was definitely a sound that has never come out of any of them. Well, we started with 4 and now I’m down to one pullet maybe 2. I think from now on, I may just get DNA sexed silkies.
I do have a plan for him but yes, it will be hard.I am so sorry.
It is hard to have to rehome them. We get so attached. Do you have any plans for any boys? In my experience it is not as hard to rehome silkie boys compared to other breeds.

Your splash looks more grey to me, suspect this one is a pullet, but again need a clear comb photo.

Based on combs, looks like your splash (grey) is a cockerel, which you know now due to the crowing. Your paint is likely a pullet, though that comb is pretty wide. You may have to wait this one out a few more weeks for the paint.

Mine are only four months, I can’t wait!!!Mine all started laying right around 7 and a half months, all breeder quality.
