    Easter eggers

Every EE I’ve ever had has been super sweet, friendly, calm, interactive and have lived a long time (my best pal Ethel lived to 11.5 and loved being picked up, lap time and cuddles).

    Rapid/labored breathing while roosting?

Very likely she’s fighting a respiratory infection. Usually they can fight it off if they’re in good health, but I will sometimes give my girls an antibiotic course (or take them to the chicken vet). I find it happens more often in the spring as the weather’s changing. Keep an eye out for...

Thoughts on 14 week old silkie gender?

We can’t have roos in the city ☹️ Even though my neighbors don’t care. He sleeps inside at night but spend a good amount of time outside (after his morning crow 😆)

Thoughts on 14 week old silkie gender?

Starting a new thread for my 14 week old silkie “Mabel”. No crowing (or egg laying) yet. Hoping for pullet, but not sure. Her comb is growing very slowly - I haven’t seen much change over the past 3-4 weeks. Thanks!

Sexing a 5-6 week Polish frizzle

Oh boy, I hope not. (S)he’s the sweetest and I don’t want to have to give her up. I think she’s a frizzled silkie (if that exists) so fingers crossed her crown looks a little different.
