    Cocci?? Help please

Hi, I live in Australia and it’s heading into winter. We’ve had a bit of wet weather where I live and I was cleaning out my cages and noticed one of my big chooks has had mucus blood in its poo and one of the little pullets. (they live in different enclosures). None of them appear to be sick...

Official BYC Poll: What Do You Do With Your Aggressive Roosters?

I try and get my kids to smother them with love and affection as chicks so they’re used to the kids. I haven’t had one attack me yet but I’ve fronted my rooster up once and chased him, he ran away never did it again. You could also use a water pistol and squirt water at them OR I have used a fly...

    Silkies sneezing and sound chesty

They just sneezed. And eventually the white silkie developed some green discharge to which I immediately isolated the two silkies and started antibiotics. The other two pullets (Wyandotte’s) seem fine and healthy.

    Silkies sneezing and sound chesty

They’ve been in quarantine since arriving and they’ve gotten sick in quarantine. We did have a few days of wet weather and they did get their feathers wet, maybe they got a chill?

    Silkies sneezing and sound chesty

Sugar cane mulch for bedding. Their environment is grass, no dust. I’m worried if it’s some sinister illness that it could spread to the others. They’re the newest chooks in the coop and a lot of articles that I’ve been reading say that illness can happen when bringing newbies into the flock and...

It’s been a few days and they’re still sneezing but no discharge? Should I contact my vet? Or persist with medication?

    Silkies sneezing and sound chesty

Hi everyone, I am worried about 2 silkie pullets that I recently purchased. they some times sneeze and have gurgly noises. Otherwise they’re eating and foraging and pooping as per normal. They’re a couple of months old and in with 6 other Wyandotte’s the same age. They are getting along well...

How to stop hens pecking and injuring other hens in the coop

How much coop/run space do they have when you keep them in? And they eat mixed grain with our food and vege scraps and pick at grass and bugs all day.

How to stop hens pecking and injuring other hens in the coop

Hi all, So I went in the coop this morning and found this hen who’s been getting pecked. The culprit has pecked a decent sized deep hole in her back, I have caged her up elsewhere and put betadine on her wound. Is there anything else anyone can recommend to help her heal? what can I do about...
