    Hen Not moving around

We have a Rhode Island blue that’s 18+ months old, vaccinated from hatchery. She looks fine but will not move on her own. She flaps her wings when try to pick her up like she usually would do. She will stand if you lift up on her belly. She eats and drinks when you bring it to her. Her feet...

    Meadows raptor ranch

Our chicken obsession started out as a fun way to reach our kids some responsibilities with the added bonus of collecting breakfast. It now turned into a family affair. My daughters are now full blown chicken lovers 🤣🤣🤣.

    Cold weather

We have mostly cold hardy hens. It is 2F outside and 30F in their coop. They won’t lay eggs inside. They won’t stay inside. They tromping around in the walkways we shoveled. Is this normal for chickens to want to be out in the cold cold outdoors?

    Winter laying and collecting

We are going out of town for a few days. The weather is going to be in the 20’s overnight. We will probably have 50 eggs by then that have been “refrigerated” outside for a few days. Are they ok to keep and should they go to the fridge instead of our usual countertop storage? I guess worst...

    Shell-less egg

Hello all, we had 2 Rhode Island blues lay eggs with no shells today. They are layer feed and have oyster shell to snack on if wanted. Clean water nothing weird on their bodies or poo. Stress free coop (far as I know) and a large open run. The birds are appx 6months old and laid a few last...

    New to chickens

Hello all, we have 3 laying birds as of now 2 SLW and a cream legbar. Last week the legbar just stopped laying eggs. Nothing new in the coop, no new chickens added but I did switch their food from grower to layer pellets. Is it kinda normal for randomness of not laying eggs for a week or...

    Easter egger?

    Mystery from TSC

A few weeks ago my daughter wanted to get some Easter eggers, so we got 6 of them. 3 are EE for sure and 3 I believe are BC marans or midnight majestic marans. Anyone know what chicken is?

    Not sure what this is

This chicken was supposed to be a Rhode Island blue, the others are a lot lighter than “her”. Any ideas on what breed she is. The one with the darker head and gold in the feathers is the one in question. The lighter one has 3 other friends and I believe they are the Rhode Island blues

    Adding new chickens

I currently have some Chickens out in the coop 2.5 months old and I am adding some new ones in 2 weeks. I have read about the look no touch, that cannot be done. I do not have another coop to add them to. I have also read adding them at night is a good way to add them. My brother has had...

My daughter and I are starting to raise chickens for eggs and entertainment. We have read a lot of tips on the internet about runs. I put some logs, stumps, big rocks and planted them a veggie garden. Anyone have any tips on how to get the shy chickens to interact with the other chickens and...
