Time sensitive! Duck with swollen foot!

I have a duck in a similar situation and took her in to the vet. It was a small puncture wound that spread to the bone, she's been on antibiotics and painkillers/anti-inflammatories for weeks. Def recommend a vet visit!

Comment by 'thoward1221' in article 'Hatching - helping the duckling in trouble'

This was so helpful, thank you! I have a duckling that pipped externally 2 days ago which was when all the others hatched. She didn't seem to be in distress but when I looked more closely I could see she had absolutely no room to get her head and neck out. I gently helped her and she was out in...

Candled duck eggs day 23 - showing ahead of schedule, advice?

Hello! I have a broody hen sitting on some pekin eggs I purchased locally. I've only candled a couple of times since she's been sitting. I just checked them this evening and the air sacs look more like they're day 26-27. I'm concerned I've messed something up by moving them or that they aren't...

    Versions of "chick chairs" PLEASE!

This thread is from a while ago but I thought I'd post mine in case it's helpful! I tried a 'chick chair' with a sock but it was just too big for this little chick, a sling made with really thin jersey seems to be working much better! She hates it but isn't struggling to get out of it as much...

silkie chick with leg injury, splayed leg/slipped tendon?

Thank you, I think you're right. This is what I initially thought was wrong so I wrapped it and made her a 'chair', she just won't rest in it and is almost constantly struggling to get out.

I tried, her little legs are just so impossibly tiny. It's really hard for me to tell.

silkie chick with leg injury, splayed leg/slipped tendon?

We picked up some silkie chicks yesterday and they offered us 2 that had 'funny legs' that they couldn't sell for free, so of course I took them. I figured they had a better chance with some attention. One didn't make it, the other is very spunky and seems pretty determined to live. I've never...
