My runner duck has an incredibly swollen foot. She was limping so badly, I thought she had been missing a toe until I saw her foot. I don’t see any injuries aside from a scrape on the foot. Is there a way to check if she has any broken bones without handling her too much? Being handled stresses her a lot. I’m hoping her right now but if I move she will freak. How can I help her? I already put iodine on Althea scrape in case that is it. On a slightly less important note, she has spots in one eye, and if Luke to know about that too. I’m leaving in the morning and o can’t cancel. I haven’t been home the last week, and haven’t had a chance to talk to my dad who has been taking care of them, so I don‘t know if this is a new injury or an old gotten worse

If it's an infection she will need antibiotics unless it's bumble foot and there is someone willing to work on her to get the bumble out. Even if she was to take an antibiotic she may still need someone to get the infection out.
Bumble is staff so if it's left alone and not taken care of the duck will eventually have it spread into her blood stream.
If it's a broken bone rest and kept on soft bedding can help.
Warm epsom salt water soaks can surely help but is not a cure all.

I have a duck in a similar situation and took her in to the vet. It was a small puncture wound that spread to the bone, she's been on antibiotics and painkillers/anti-inflammatories for weeks. Def recommend a vet visit!

I have the same problem right now, I’ve put her in a bucket with water and epsom salt to clean the foot off and see if there is a wound, but there is nothing, no scab, no cut, so idk. Was thinking if it’s not bumble foot maybe she broke a toe? She’s limping around and won’t put pressure on it. Some help?

Here are some pics

That looks to be in the joint. Does it feel like there is fluid in the swollen area?
What breed and could she have injured it in a fall or jumping off of something?

:welcome

She’s a peckin and No it feels pretty hard, I mean not rock hard but hard enough. I’ve read about cutting out bumble foot but since there is no sore so no starting point I’m not going to do that.
yes it’s very possible that she jumped off of something, the chicken coop is a few feet off the ground with a ramp, she has places to go at night that aren’t high up like a pallet house and underneath the coop on the ground but she likes to be in there with her chicken buds I guess. Also she climbs in and out of the kiddie pool. I just want to make sure it’s nothing that will get infected and end up doing major damage. It doesn’t seem to have gotten much worse, but it definitely hasn’t gotten better. Here is a pic from 5 days ago

And no I wasn’t wearing the same shirt 5 days ago just the same color 😅

I’d def not cut into it just wondering if she may have broken her ankle bone. Is there a chance of a vet visit. I don’t think this is going resolve on it’s on if it’s been going on 5 days or more.
