Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

We have so many less birds at the minute, a combination of feed prices, and job changes as well as issues with land we rent has ment that we're down to only 7 chickens and no ducks or geese. We however set up a are first pig pen which will hopefully double as space for winter geese

    Sudden gosling deaths

Oh! I think I actually do, any advise on how to get it into them? Can I mix it with water since it's a powder?

    Sudden gosling deaths

That's great advise about the feed so thank you. We don't have the fish antibiotic loophole here unfortunately. The pigeon one we kind of have, it's the only reason I can get amprolium or ivermectin, but it doesn't exist for us for antibiotics which is a pity because the vets here don't want to...

    Sudden gosling deaths

    Sudden gosling deaths

Amprolium I actually do have, I give it too my chickens. Antibiotics there's no chance of my getting, you can't by them here unless you import them illegally from Eastern Europe or India. The febendazole I could only get as part of a chicken feed, would that be a problem? I know it is with...

    Sudden gosling deaths

They get a young game bird mix feed with wheat berries and sunflower seeds etc in it but mostly what they eat is grass and other greens from the garden. Over night temps have been roughly 18c/62f, which is pretty much the warmest my country gets

    Sudden gosling deaths

Unfortunately we don't have a vet near that would do that for a bird. They have been on the runny side. No slime. The second one had no symptoms at all until it was pretty much dead

    Sudden gosling deaths

Over the past two days we've lost two goslings. So for context, goslings are pilgrims, first time I've had this breed as previously only had Toulouse (which I still have, just wanted to expand in breeds) started with five, they're about 4 nearly five weeks now, starting to feather up abit but v...

Goose age vs free ranging and predators?

I personally think they're definitely old enough to be outside, I put mine outside in summer from 3 weeks old in a netted run and then unnetted from 8 weeks on, however that being said I have the complete opposite climate issue than you, even though it's June nearly July it's rare for us to be...

Goose age vs free ranging and predators?

My main question would be what's their water access like in the chicken coop? They're alot more water dependant than chickens for starters as I'm sure you already know

The vitamins are a good idea, I'm using shredded paper, do you think that could cause problems?

    Chicks suddenly dying

Hello, I don't live in the USA, I live in northern ireland, so there is no NPIP here. It's also extremely hard to get hatching eggs or chicks in general so I take what I can get. The brooder seems to be the correct temperature and the surviving chicks arnt panting or huddled. Thank you for your...

    Chicks suddenly dying

I have been incubating Cobb chickens, so far 4 have hatched. The hatching has been extremely erratic, with only 4 out 12 hatching so far. Over the course of the last few days, two of the chicks have suddenly died, they haven't seemed sick at all and the chicks haven't been huddling/acting cold...

rabbit purposes other than meat or fibre?

I spray it monthly. If they're long haired as well it's a good idea to keep the hair around their bum trimed up too. As soon as it gets to cold for fly's you can stop spraying

rabbit purposes other than meat or fibre?

It's a pretty easy to use little spray that you spray on their bums in summer. I think rabbits are relatively prone to it although I've never actually had a case of it. It's one of those things that's alot cheaper to prevent than treat! Good. Husbandry is also key, flystike is where flies lay...

rabbit purposes other than meat or fibre?

In my experience rabbits are fantastic at eating grass and weeds as well as making compost. Picture below is one of mine being used as a lawn mower (this is not her permanent residence, she does have a proper bed hutch etc) this is a small moveable run that I can put on fresh grass, cutting down...

The Millennials Thread (Gen Z is welcome too)

Hello, you can call me betula (not my real name). I'm from Northern Ireland. We have, so far 7 chickens, a mix of rescue ISA browns and hatched Arucanas. Haven't been keeping chickens very long but have been researching for about 3-4 years, from living in a tiny studio flat to now having my own...

    Sudden chick death

Yes the run is completely covered top and all sides, the ground is also completely bare sand with no weeds that could have been poisonus and has never been sprayed with anything (were landscaping so just put down the fresh sand)
