Why wasn't I warned.. not to build a coop, or heck get chickens... Oh well too late now. New build started this weekend.

This looks great! We have added walls to sides of run to block snow drifts so I don’t see why you can’t add walls on one side. Only concern would be ventilation, but with two sides open should be fine! Have fun!

    Windows/ventilation/roosts for COLD winter

I think they will go to side where there are no drafts. Mine scoot away from window at night. Always an option to add ventilation.

    Wrinkled and soft shelled eggs

I would let them free feed oyster shells and switch to all layer feed. She’s not getting enough calcium.

    Did she lay an egg

Check the nesting box? Their combs and waffles get very red and they do a chicken dance when you pet them. 16 weeks is young, she may just be practicing!

    Resin shed reuse

Hi there! both runs have full access the smaller one has a top that opens completely and latches close, and the taller one has a door. Both are easy to clean and access. We can add a cover to the top easily. We currently use landscape cloth for shade, but can easily add a sheet of plastic to...

    Resin shed reuse

Sorry here are the photos of the run. We have a 1/4 run that opens from the top, then a 1/2 run that has a small door to the side. So far its been a breeze to clean. I have sand in the base and there is hard ware cloth on the bottom. We live in Colorado on top of a hill and we have a breeze...

    Resin shed reuse

We have cage covered vent holes on each side at top. Can add more if needed. There is a small window on one side that can be opened. And doggy door converted to let them out , we added a hook so it doesn’t fall down, but door latches close when completely closed - I currently lock them in at...

    Resin Coop

Well we have not had the shed coop for long but giving it a try. We had this old resin shed and saw a post here and followed the idea. So far our chickens love it! We added a small window. A dog door, two roost bars and 2 nesting boxes- yet to open since girls are only 11 weeks old. Used pine...

Storage shed turned into coop and added garden run.

The girls love it! I only kept them in coop one night and they didn’t need any coaxing to go back in. They peak out and explore the run but really come out when I am around- they really feel safe around me and I guess I am still momma hen!

Review by 'Macchick' in article 'Plastic Shed Chicken Coop'

Thank you for this fantastic post! It has inspired us to use our resin shed that was just sitting unused. We are converting it into a coop based on this post. My only concern is for ventilation. And no room for poop boards. We are new at this so we just wanted to try this out first. May build...
