Hi All,
I have a 15-month old hen who has completely stopped laying eggs since June. I have examined her vent and it looks pristine, her comb is nice and red, she acts normal, eats and drinks. I have her on Dumore layer feed. I have checked her for external parasites and have not found any. She...
Hi 👋,
My young hen Petey had just started laying eggs about 10 days ago and now stopped and no eggs for 2 days. She acts normal, eats and is active but the fluff underneath her vent is dirty, which has never happened before.
Is this normal? Could she be sick?
Hi All 👋
Our Petey has laid her first 3 eggs! One every day, hurray!
I have a question about the color though, the first one came out dark brown and the following two are dark brown underneath with a purplish hue over top. Any ideas why?
That helps a lot, thank you! I always thought chickens have to be at least 16 months old to molt, but maybe her feather loss is normal part of grown up feathers coming in. I will attach pics of the one that's losing feathers, her name is Peter
Hi All, we have a three month old hen who has begun to lose feathers. I can't find any sign of disease or parasites, so I'm wondering if maybe one of her 2-month old roomies is a rooster? If you could give me your opinions that would be great!
Greetings! Could some Wyandotte experts please look at these pics of my 4 week old golden laced and let me know if there is still any hope this may be a girl? HOA absolutely won't tolerate roos 😥
Hi All, Happy Friday! I was hoping I had two pullets but my 2 week old Wyandotte has a big old comb and I have no experience with this breed. She (he) got her tail feathers pretty quickly but that comb though 🤣🤷🏽♀️
What do y'all think?
A local chicken aficionado...an old man who loves and raises chickens. He sells some of his straight runs at our local hardware store but promises a swap if you end up with a rooster. I had one rooster among my original chicks so I called him and he came and got him to live with one of his...
Update: Tonight my hens happily went into the coop by themselves at nightfall. I have some dim fairy lights in there with a timer and like to think the light guided them into their cozy coop 😊
Yes this was only her second night and we didn't interact with her during the day like we normally do because it was pouring rain. I checked again a couple hours after closing the coop and she had quieted down. ❤️
