No blood/marks anywhere besides the one spot
it might be a bit late to chill him, it looked like he'd been dead for at least 30min-an hour when I found him, he was already stiff and sitting in the upper 80s/low 90s heat. I have him in a box ready to bury currently.
Yeah, that was my first...
One of my 8wk old chicks suddenly passed and I have no idea what caused it. He was completely fine just 2hrs ago, he was running around, and eating/drinking. Then I go out just now and find him under the coop dead, the tiniest amount of blood near his comb (but no injuries found), and his entire...
little update-
I just did the first real no barrier introduction between mr silkie and the rooster trio (a bit early, I know), and it honestly couldn't have gone any better. It was the nicest chicken introduction I've ever seen.
First one out was yakko, and mr silkie went up to him slowly and...
Yeah they're the best
I had a bachelor flock of 3 for about a year and it was great, only reason it failed was cause I lost one suddenly which disrupted the whole hierarchy
so I'm definitely excited to start one again!
I got a silkie roo back in october thinking I'd just get some hens for him since my older roo is with my 5 hens,
so obviously I got 10 st run bantams (I definitely did not plan on "accidentally" getting roosters at all, that was never considered)
So far, my 3 11wk chicks all turned out to be...
Sorry for the late reply, I thought I had notifications on but turns out I didn't
It hasn't felt hot or tender, and it seems to be healing properly on it's own and not bothering him. I'll keep watching it, but it looks like it's healing up just fine, thanks for the help!
I have a 4wk d'uccle chick who I just noticed has what looks kind of like a wound that has started to heal, but I didn't notice anything there until today.
it's just over his hip under his wing, about an inch long. It's possible I just haven't seen it until now, but I'm worried it could be a...
Yes, he's ~80ft away give or take and I've been completely changing in between coops + washing hands since I got him
I treated him for a full week, and he's been symptom free for 2 weeks now
I'm wondering how soon I should introduce him, and if I need to do a 2nd round of treatment before I do...
Oh no, he wasn't separated. He's a new chicken that I just got from someone else. So he hasn't been introduced to my other chickens yet at all since I always quarantine new chickens completely for at least 2 weeks. Sorry for the confusion ^^
I got a silkie rooster ~3 weeks ago and suspected he came with coccidiosis since he had very runny and bloody poop, so I have him completely quarantined and treated with corid for 7 days (his poop looked normal after 2). That was ~2 weeks ago, and he hasn't had any symptoms since.
Should I do...
Thanks, I plan on taking him to the vet in the morning
I'm a bit nervous about doing anything myself, but I'm also worried about not doing anything
He doesn't seem to be in much pain, he's been eating/drinking normally and has been crowing constantly since I moved him inside. There's also no...
My orpington rooster broke the top of his beak today sometime between 12pm-3pm, and the only vet that's open can't see him today so I need advice on what first aid I can do. I already separated him and have him in a tub until I can get something bigger to put him in.
Update:
It's been almost a year since putting them together and I've never seen any signs of fighting/bullying. It's been pretty much the same as having any other flock, the only difference being they all crow.
Chills (darker bantam) started copying his brother recently so every time I come in...
Since I have 4 roosters and only 6 hens, I decided to start a bachelor coop for 3 of them and it's been going well so I thought I'd share
I've got 2 english game/bantam cochin roosters and 1 buff orpington together
The coop is a little over 12sq ft and their run is 100sq ft. They're out in the...
my little english game/cochin roosters
the one in front is vampy and the one in the back is chills
they're super friendly and follow me around everywhere
I haven't found anything on this, so I thought I'd ask here
For context, I have 7 chicks, 2 are being raised by a hen, and the others were from a feed store. They're all about 5-6 weeks old.
I've had the store chicks for 3 weeks but they weren't introduced to the other chicks until last weekend...
I got these guys from the feed store a few weeks ago, and was told all except the EE were pullets
they're about 5-6 weeks old now, the EE is looking more like a pullet to me, but I'm worried that the orpington might be a roo
