    The Phippy Flock

Pip has started growing very roostery saddle feathers and probably need to head to a new home soon, and well, "chicken math".....so we've added two more babies: Snuggles, a Black Laced Red Wyandotte and Linguini Noodles, a Russian Orloff. They're about 3 weeks old.

HELP! Hen eyes closed, laying down, just moves head a bit.

Okay, so, Ms. Tigger started laying again (she was broody before this incident). She layed one tiny normal egg, then a shell less egg the next day, We gave her some extra calcium and the third day was a weird shaped chalky egg, and then today another shell less egg. Is her system just...

Probably what it was. She is better now (it has been a week). She took treatment like a champ.

anyone know how old this cream legbar could be?

Our Crested Cream Legbars both did the same thing. We got them about 1 year old, they supposedly had been laying before they came home with us, and they both took about 2 months before they started laying at our house.

HELP! Hen eyes closed, laying down, just moves head a bit.

Ok. We got some nutridrench in her, some yogurt, and some water. I checked to see if she was egg bound, and I don't think so, but we're new at this so...hopefully I'm not wrong. Her crop is very full and squishy/gurgly- and the way she was moving her neck around matches some descriptions, so I...

HELP! Hen eyes closed, laying down, just moves head a bit.

Just now our kids found out 1 year old hen Tigger in the garden laying down and not moving. We brought her in and she will open her eyes a bit and then close them again. She is only moving her head and neck, and kind of moving her head around in a slow lazy circle. She was broody last week...

    The Phippy Flock

Our flock began last year when my son asked for chickens for his 9th birthday. We did some research, and since we suddenly had time at home (here's one benefit to the covid quarantines), we let him pick up 4 chicks. He raised them up with tons of love and produced 4 lap-chickens. So... here...

5 week old- is this a slipped tendon?

Her foot pads both look clean and healthy. We haven't been able to find much/any swelling. I thought her right hock looked a little swollen, but my husband thought her left might be. So if there is swelling it isn't very much. Here is a rear view of her little legs and feet. I read in a few...

    Odd wing feather development

Ms. Dumpling has feathered out really nicely. Thank you for easing my worries! She has needed help with her feather sheaths a little with every new feathering area. Her wings were what needed help the most. She does preen, but isn't very good at it, I guess.

5 week old- is this a slipped tendon?

Our little 5 week old Polish, Dumpling, started limping yesterday afternoon. She holds her right leg up a bit and and doesn't put weight on it. She is still eating and drinking fine, and getting around pretty well. We've put her on rest, in her brooder with her one friend and gave her some...

    Odd wing feather development

We have a baby Polish, and she is growing in her wing feathers in an odd way. We've raised nine other babies (though not Polish) and never seen this before, so I am wondering if anyone else has an idea if this is normal, or odd, and if anything needs to be done to help her out. Maye there is a...
