Seems like there’s a lot of difference in opinion/research! I’m wondering if combining...

    4+weeks... let’s try gender!

WW, Denny, and Yeti are cockerels. In one pic, Brooke looked gender fluid. The rest didn’t jump out as anything other than pullets.

    Just for fun…any guesses?

Thanks guys!! My suspicion is 3 pullets…but we shall see. I can’t keep a Roo, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed. I have two brand new babies….I’ll attach pics here. They are obviously way too young to make any guesses, but I have my suspicions on them as well. One is Easter egger from same mom and...

    Just for fun…any guesses?

I have 3 babies that are almost 4 weeks old. One of them I know for sure is a pullet thanks to sex-linked genetics. The black and gold is offspring of a Cuckoo Maran hen and a buff Cochin bantam roo. She was solid black when she hatched, and she is getting prettier by the day. She has the most...

Could this be a Sicilian Buttercup chick?

X3 the comb and coloring tell it all!

Calling all Bantam Experts! Help me with gender guesses.

Actually, I recant. Looking at the head color of OEGB, I say cockerel there too. So I think ya got 3 cockerels 😬

Calling all Bantam Experts! Help me with gender guesses.

No expert here, but I’ve raised two bantams. My totally non-expert guess is two cockerels and a pullet (OEGB). Quite the cuties!

    Pullet or cockerel?

No worries at all! Thank you for responding 😊

    Pullet or cockerel?

Yep! That’s the only one I know of and got a beautiful pullet (pics above). I was wondering if there were any others…

    Pullet or cockerel?

Since I’m curious, would any of my other crosses lead to sex linked traits? I’ve read a ton and don’t believe that they would, but maybe I’m missing something? My Roo was a buff Cochin bantam. My hens are as follows: Cuckoo Maran Ameraucana White Leghorn Black Australorp Rhode Island Red...

    Pullet or cockerel?

Correct - that’s the fun part of sex-linked traits! Easy to figure it out! But even before the barred pattern, you should see a white spot on their head. Kinda cool!

    Pullet or cockerel?

I was just saying to my husband that I think she’s going to be GORGEOUS. The pictures don’t even do her coloring justice. She is very confident too, and quite inquisitive. My white leghorn/Cochin bantam mix baby is spastic just like her mama hen.

    Pullet or cockerel?

I was taught by someone who is very experienced, but as I said, I did so very sheepishly because I know it’s easy to hurt/kill them. Even if I were the best chicken sexer around, I’d be sheepish just because of how fragile they are that first day. Don’t worry. I’m an overly protective and...

Hey, all you cool chicks and chickens!

Ahhhh….a fellow Dobie lover! You’ll appreciate this. My red girl when I first got my chicks last year. She thought they were her babies…and she even lactated!! My 100lb black male is scared of the babies. He jumps if he’s sniffing them and they move 😂

    Pullet or cockerel?

Hi! I’m new here, so please bear with me if I don't do this all the right way or use the exact/proper terminology. I have 3 chicks that hatched 3 weeks ago. Because I only had one Roo (buff Cochin bantam) and only have one of each hen breed, I can tell you for sure what each chick is. The three...

Hey, all you cool chicks and chickens!

No, I’m not Carole Baskin. It just sounded like a catchy intro title. I’ve been a “chicken tender” for a little over a year now, and I love it. But a year in the game still means I’m definitely a novice. I’m always looking to learn what I can so that I can maintain happy and healthy chickens...
