Hey, all you cool chicks and chickens!

No, Iā€™m not Carole Baskin. It just sounded like a catchy intro title. Iā€™ve been a ā€œchicken tenderā€ for a little over a year now, and I love it. But a year in the game still means Iā€™m definitely a novice. Iā€™m always looking to learn what I can so that I can maintain happy and healthy chickens. And Iā€™m always happy to help when I can as well.

I live in a small-ish town in Utah, so we get pretty hot summers (currently in a heat spell and drought) as well as pretty snowy and cold winters (at about 6000 ft elevation). The altitude does present its challenges as well, particularly when it comes to hatching. Iā€™ve recently taken an interest in breeding/hatching, particularly genetics-so thatā€™s likely what Iā€™m here for. That may come to a halt though as I just had to rehome my Roo last week (silly city rules).

I have a very mixed flock of hens, and I love how each one has their own chickenality. Yes, I think chickens have personalities šŸ˜‚ but they arenā€™t persons, sooooā€¦

I look forward to being a member here, and thanks for having me!
Your intro line made me laugh so hard lol šŸ˜‚ Welcome to the community!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Ahhhhā€¦.a fellow Dobie lover! Youā€™ll appreciate this. My red girl when I first got my chicks last year. She thought they were her babiesā€¦and she even lactated!! My 100lb black male is scared of the babies. He jumps if heā€™s sniffing them and they move šŸ˜‚
