    Bloody stool

With our other birds we had a couple with bloody stool, and ended up with chickens fine one day and dead the next. A friend suggested a Corrid treatment, since we didn't know for sure what was going on, but things seemed to point to coccidiosis. The other birds are doing fine now.

    Bloody stool

Thank you! We kept him for 5 days for the full treatment where he had no choice but the medicated water. There are no berries around. We just let him outside today, which is day 6. He is getting the half strength treatment the other chickens are getting now.

    Bloody stool

Peep (the rooster in question) is 1.5 year old silkie. We've never wormed, but also never seen signs of worms.... We are doing a Corrid treatment on our entire flock right now and had separated Peep because he was drinking the cats water instead of his medicated water. We wanted to make sure he...

    Bloody stool

I looked at the "poo chart" someone shared, and I've read a lot, but, no one seems to have answered this question... How often should you see the normal red/bloody stool that comes as the chickens shed their intestinal lining? We treated our flock for coccidiosis, but one little silkie rooster...

    Rooster hoarse and raspy

If I add more chickens to the flock, will they contract the respiratory disease too then? We have 4 chicks we were going to add to the flock in December when they are old enough to be outside, but if there is a chance that they can get sick too, then we might have to build another coop and...

    Silkie Rooster

We added 10 more hens, and today is the first day they are out of quarantine, and able to free range. He seems to be sticking closer to the house, but still wandering away from the rest of the chickens.

    Silkie Rooster

Peep, our silkie rooster was recently dethroned by Cornball our younger rooster who has just come into maturity. Peep now just wanders. He doesn't hang around with the flock. He just wanders on his own. I am worried that he is just going to disappear one day. Is this normal rooster behavior...

Candling... What am I looking for?

Thank you! That's kind of what I figured. I haven't actually seen my rooster mount any hens, he tries, but he's half the size of most of my hens. I guess I need to get him some silkie ladies.

Candling... What am I looking for?

We have a young silkie rooster. He will be 1 in May. I cracked an egg a few weeks ago this was obviously fertilized. It has veins throughout the yolk. I decided that it might be fun to try and incubate and hatch our own eggs. We are on day 9...I don't think a single one of my 9 eggs is actually...
