    yes I have some from McMurry now but will be getting show quality ones in near future the differences in the looks and body style are quite obvious. Hopefully in the near future I will be able to have the breeding stock and show quality I want but only time will tell.

    small game starts 15 Sep here .. time to go out and get some pat's. Coon Season starts 1 OCT then Water Trapping starts 1 Nov so I have a bit to wait for seasons to open.

The heads tho seem to be a bit crowish to me also and the combs are not quite right 6 - 7 points when the SOP calls for 5 but have a pullet that has great coloration but that is the last thing one trys to get right.     One of the main problems with these birds is getting show quality as not many breeders out there except for the hatchieries.

    Looks like a great day again today. arggg got about another 20 cockrels to butcher yet .. ok who gona come on up and help out then the work comes for GF and that is getting the canner running for a few hours. Least it is not 90+ while doing it. Ok Hillbilly ya could make a trip up here

    well welcome to the forum, Have been there but it has been many many years ago that I Back Packed the Mts and don't even rember the last time I went to copper harbor. And yes it does get a bit cold up there. have fun and enjoy.

    I have heard with meat birds at least a month before butchering but that is just something I heard.

    Here is one side of the coop getting done the other will be a mirror of this one ... this is two 4x8 pens framed in with wire started to be put on. This is looking from the back to the front door

    yep and I have to have this and another shed done by the time that snow does fall. It wont be that difficult but I sure dislike pounding together in the high humidity .. the heat is not as bad as the humidity tho.

    Yea I am doing soffit and facia and hard to do when the sweat is poring into the eyes and the grit from the shingles iis droppin in the eyes right along with it ... this humidity has to go sooner or later.

    What Breed or possible cross

    Here is a picture of a Cockrel that I have here and no clue what it is and can't seem to locate a picture that comes close so figured the ppl at BYC could help me determine. I like the penciling and hackle feathers and just wondering if it is something that can be continued or if it is a cross...

    Never really seen it spelled out just knew of it by name as basicly grew up all over Bridgeport first then Ohio then Saginaw then the world (service) but sounds like the same place as Saginaw county is right next to Tuscola County.

    No one talks about canning it anymore ... take all the cockrels/old hens you have and skin/debone and can all the meat together
