Born early August so that’s about right. In my reading about the breed, however, I kept seeing 6-7 months for laying to begin. This one is small and a lighter brown as well - more of a nice tan color. My ISA’s are laying rich brown eggs. I have so much to learn through the actual experience...
Anybody have barred rocks that laid earlier than expected? Mine were not supposed to begin laying until March, but we have a new year’s day egg that seems to be from one of them. That’s EARLY! We have a ring camera in the coop, so we are almost certain one of our BR’s is the newest layer.

I’ll post a picture when I get a chance. We are modifying it for more space and roosting area. It came from Aivituvin. If I had it to do over, we would have bought a wooden shed and modified it. Oh, well! This one - with modifications - will do for now. It’s not a bad pre-fab...just not big...
Not at this time...but we have access for adding it fairly easily. We still need to finish the run. We have a small one which came with the coop which would be fine for them at this age. We have raccoons and possums and other ground predators out here. I’m not ready to move them to the coop yet...
