I haven't noticed any fluid around her chest her belly. Just very skinny. Her crop at night is slightly filled but it feels mostly like water. She is very slow but moves around ok. She wants to eat and will run for food but obviously not getting much in.
Other things I've noticed the past few days are she has lost a lot of weight and if someone bumps into her she practically falls over. When she is eating she will pick at the food like she really wants it but doesn't actually eat a whole lot. She also frequently shakes her head.
Since the snow hit they have been in a run. They eat a feed called Gallo Pro. She hasn't been acting normal for a bit. She doesn't run to the food anymore and only drinks a little. She has lost a pound or two of recently. Her crop was full this morning and she didn't have any solid droppings...
My 5 year old brahma has been having some issues. She will have spurts when her droppings are not solid at all and it causes her to have dirty feathers. I have been told many things it could be: worms, sour crop, intestinal infection. I've tried a Fenbendazole for dewormer and nothing has...
Initially I used staw for bedding and realized that could be the issue so that's gone. Wild birds do come into my yard and eat my chicken feed and drink from their waterer.
I have been battling mites for some time now. I have tried DE, ivermectin, permethrin, and a shampoo called cypermethrin. I finally caved in to buy elector psp but it hasn't arrived yet.
I am finding mites everywhere not only on my chickens but a few crawling on my phone this past week. I have...
Hello All,
My white leg horn has been limping for about a month or so but it seems to be worse when it snows or cold weather. I have checked her feet for bumblefoot and there are no sores or signs of any wounds. She still walks and runs when she needs to but isn't fast. I have also been trying...
The second article that shows Northern Fowl Mites looks like the ones on my girls. I have also just brought in bales of straw from an outside farm which would make sense why I have mites again since my last treatment.
Would dust baths help with treatment or not necessarily? I have read that...
I also want to add that I have never seen any mites on or in the coop. Only on the tail end of the bird. Does that mean they are a certain type of mite?
Since winter has started I have used the deep litter method. Would you suggest to clean all that out now?
Is this the pour-on? Is it toxic like the Permethrin?
I have been dealing with mites for months. I have tried DE and Permethrin powder and spray. I cleaned out the entire coop with the spray and dusted the girls several times. I am not sure what to do next. Someone had suggested to use Ivermectin but I have no idea how to use it. I have also been...
I've always used Purina crumbles. I did treat with Medistatin because the droppings stuck on their feathers were gooey white and crusted like cement. Then came the red mites that I sprayed the coop and powdered the chickens. I feel like I'm at a loss.
I have not visibly seen worms but I have not dewormed them in 2 years and they have had diarrhea/soiled feathers ongoing for a month or more. Someone else on here said try treating for worms. What would you suggest going forward?
In the past I have used Fenbendazole. After reading a few threads I found that many people say not to use during a molt. I had just given all my girls their first dose (pea sized paste directly in beak). Should I dose again in 10 days or should I wait until the molting is over? I had also read...
