Oh I was just going off the site’s care sheet for bobwhite. So multiple males and a harem of females could fit in that size of coop assuming there is adequate cover and stimulation to avoid aggression?
Hello everyone! I recently moved my pigeons to a bigger aviary, which leaves their old 6x3x6 open. I am considering getting quail and would like some opinions - first:
In general I prefer bobwhite quail, though they seem harder to raise, but my main question on them is this -
I see that people...
I am sorry I cannot contribute because I have no experience with chukars, but hopefully this will draw some attention to your questions. I completely understand the stress of not fully knowing how to care for a rescue bird. Maybe try and google it, look for other forums with similar questions.
Hey Phantom! Your birds are beautiful and so are the photos!
question - do you keep the American coots in the same aviary as the ducks? if so, how are they? I have heard they are very aggressive.
Hey Wildwings I actually had a question about feeding in your current main aviary - I assume you give higher protein food items to the divers, but how do you keep the dabblers from getting it? Do you use the sinking kind that the dabblers cant reach because its at the bottom? Many thanks
Lol those are hilarious. Reminds me of this time I went to Costa Rica and got up before dawn. I looked out my open window at this tree with all these sleeping parakeets in it. As soon as the very top of the sun could be seen over the horizon the cacophony began lol.
I feel you on the rocky yard. Seems like that’s half the soil around here lol. I never knew that long tails were loud! In part its probably because I only ever see them in winter when they’re not courting as much anyways.
I know that the aviary is going to be back-breaking expensive, but one day...
Hey Wild Wings! How’s that aviary coming? I cant wait to see how it comes out and to see your venture into divers!
PS - let me know if you ever get Long tailed ducks lol
Im also in CT, and I’d love to get some ducks from you but Im still in school, and thus itll have to wait a while
Good luck with the crane!
I’ve heard that the long tails are one of the most difficult species. But they are so beautiful and fascinating they’re worth the challenge.
thanks for the ibis info!
Oh lol in my excitement for you I forgot the profiles had the state right there lol. Would you keep the ibis in a shelter for the winter or will you give it outdoor access?
id help you if I could but my one zoo connection left the business a while ago. Other than that I didn’t even know black...
You’re setups are absolutely incredible. Such beautiful aviaries, so gorgeous birds!
also- is that a black necked crane?
also - I CANT BELIEVE YOU GOT HARLEQUINS THATS SO AWESOME!! Ok enthusiasm aside, that’s fantastic, as these birds are not only suffering terrible decline, and will need a...
