Replying to this so I can figure out how to get back to it later, Lord’s Willing!!! I have never incubated goosie eggs before, and am very excited to try! I also have some ducky eggs that I would like to put in there, so your response was very helpful to me too! Thank you so much!!
To be clear...
She may be! I’m really not sure her total egg count, but I would say 10-12. The strange part is, the first 3 eggs were PERFECT! Fully formed, beautiful huge eggs. But after that, they have all been soft shelled… When she came off of the nest today, I didn’t see any eggs under her.
Giving her...
Well, I’m out here with her med and she is currently sitting on the nest!! I’m not really sure why, it’s 3:30 here, so kind of a strange time to be on the nest if she is laying, isn’t it?
Ohhh okay, I wasn’t accounting for not being face to face with her!! The writing said on the “right” side, but the picture showed the left, so I was confused! Silly me, thank you!!
PRAISE THE LORD, just from observing she seems to be acting more like herself. :love I’m headed out with a dose...

When I give the calcium gluconate, does it matter if the syringe is on the right side or the left side of the trachea opening?!
We’re in Alabama, so not in the bad winter storm, but also up against a major cold front, so I think you’re absolutely right about her not appreciating the warm soak and then freezing outside!! Thank you so much for the advice!!!
How many days would you suggest giving her the medicine?
Honestly I can’t tell you thank you enough!!! I was so confused about the medicine, I just really needed clear answers, and that’s exactly what you gave!! Thank you so much! Please keep praying for her!
I’ll keep y’all posted!
Hi there! I know this is an older post, but I’m looking for some help with a Chinese goose. I think she might be egg bound, and I just got some calcium gluconate, but I wanted to make sure that it could definitely be given orally!! The bottle says injection, so I wanted to make sure that I could...
Hi, I know this is an old post, but I was searching for some info and came upon this. I think I *might* have an eggbound Chinese goose. I am on my way to get Calcium Gluconate, but I don’t know if I need to give it orally or by injection.
If injection, where and how?
If orally, do I need to...
I see it says injection, but I wasn’t sure if that’s really how to do it or not (some meds can be given orally?)
I’m headed to TSC and just need to know if I should grab some syringes?
And if so… how in the world do I give a goose a shot?! And where?!
Oh my goodness!! That’s is awful!! Where can I purchase the calcium gluconate?? And is it a powder or a solution? I want to make sure she gets it into her system. Thank you so much for answering so quickly!!!
Hi there, we have a 7 month old Chinese goose who is acting not her usual self. She was laying soft shell eggs, so I gave her oyster shell and chicken egg shells to see if she would eat either, and have given her free access to both every day. She doesn’t seem to be eating either one, and now...
Okay, now I have a new issue… she isn’t eating the oyster shells or chicken egg shells, and she is acting sort of off. Not hanging out with her buddy goose, not honking loudly, and her poo is white/clear and kind of sticky. What do I do?! I’m praying she gets better, she’s such a good goose girl!!!
