    No dig, do they work?

How wide is your apron. My set up came with one but it is only about 8inches wide

    No dig, do they work?

I was thinking of getting some no dig barriers. Allegedly they stop animals as small as rabbits but I am skeptical. Has anyone on here used them before and had any success...

    HPAI questions

I live in MA in the US. There had been HPAI in wild bird populations and it has been found in at least 1 back yard flock. I am wondering about risk vs benefits of keeping my chickens inside their covered run for the time being. But,I think they are happier when they are free range and I have no...

    Snow storm

My run is fairly protected and covered soI think they should be alright. No windows at all. If a day ever comes when I decide to get another coop, I will remember this.

    Snow storm

There is a winter storm watch in my area for tomorrow. Do you let chickens out of the hen house when there is a storm? Their house does not really have any light in there and their food and water are outside in their run. Are they better off just staying in the house until the storm dies down...

    It finally happened!

I finally got an egg! But... It got frozen being outside for several hours. Can I still eat it in a scramble? The shell did not crack.

    Eglu go question

Yes, I would need to use my not so handy skills to make one. I think I could probably do it with some wood, saw, and hot glue

    Eglu go question

I thought of trying to make a square to make it deeper. Just haven't done it yet

    Eglu go question

I usually don't have much around, especially in winter. Summer I will have plenty of grass clippings at least. I have only been using the shavings.

    Eglu go question

I might try that. I suspect my chickens will play with it though. Where would I find a small quantity of straw? I don't want to buy a bunch of it in case it doesn't work

    Perch Construction

UPDATE #3 My chickens are not using it and I don't know why. Maybe they never learned how to perch? They were 20 WK pullets when I go them and I didn't pay attention to if they had perches at the farm I got them from. In the past few months I have had them I only saw them "perch" on top of...

    Eglu go question

I worry that the shavings don't provide enough if a barrier from the plastic. It doesn't look very comfortable.

    Eglu go question

For those of you that have eglu go's, what do you use for nesting material in the nesting corner of the go? I just have been using shavings. Is there something better? Also, they have not started laying yet. I just put the golf balls in there to show them where to go when the time comes.

    Perch Construction

UPDATE #2. I am surprised it actually fits. Unfortunately, I did spend alot more money on this than I would have if I made my own. Since it was already shipped to my house, I though I might as well use it rather than go through the trouble of returning it.

It also comes with lovely squares of cardboard my chickens might like to play with. I made a little tower with them!
