Need a new, improved run. Pics please!

Thanks you all! So I'm actually looking at a 20*12 run now so that my coop will be inside the run. It's currently outside of it and this will be nicer, I think. Am getting help to build it otherwise I could never do it. I'm illiterate with tools. :) I'm looking at a metal roof but not sure what...

Need a new, improved run. Pics please!

From my estimates, I spend as much on buying new tarps as I will the lumber.

    Pushing neck down/backing up behavior

Interesting. I just hope it doesn't progress into something more serious

    Pushing neck down/backing up behavior

No change in food and no, she usually eats outdoors in their chicken run. She did recently finish a molt which I thought maybe contributed to the odd behavior but it's still happening.

    Pushing neck down/backing up behavior

Hi there. This behavior where she backs up while pushing her neck and head down, often while circling her food ...why does she do this? Is this normal? I don't recall her doing this until the last week or two.

Need a new, improved run. Pics please!

This is quite similar to what I have in mind, but adding something to the sides of the back half of the run to keep out rain and snow. I can see how in your case the shed would definitely help a lot with that! How has the slanted roof worked for you with snow in particular?

Need a new, improved run. Pics please!

I'm leaning towards metal roofing since it'll last a long time. Does it add heat? Your run....do you have polycarbonate on the sides? It's hard to tell but it looks like you have a clear material running up the side? I'm looking at having "walls" (maybe polycarbonate?) go about halfway up...

Need a new, improved run. Pics please!

Hi all! My first run has been a headache and its time for a redo. I am looking to build a 10*12 with wood, hardware cloth and a covered roof. I want a slanted roof that can withstand the weight of a potential few inches of snow/ice as well as large beaches that might fall. NO MORE TARP on the...

Chickens don't want to eat their feed

I have to ask....where do you live? It is so beautiful! I'm glad to hear your girls are doing well! I'm having a similar experience today. Mine hate the cold and it's been pretty terrible this year with that and snow. Today, however, it's 50 degrees and for the first time in a long time mine...

3.5 yr old hen not eating normal food

My 3.5 year old stopped eating her food two days ago. She will eat treats, but only treats. No other symptoms. There is a possibility she may have a tumor, but vet wasn't sure, which was brought up before she had crop surgery about two months ago. Her closest flockmate is currently indoors, as...

Do you treat a slow crop from a hard molt?

Thank you. This is what I was leaning towards as well.

Do you treat a slow crop from a hard molt?

One of my hens has been going through a really hard molt and her crop is definitely slowed and not empty in the morning. Do I treat this as an impacted crop or do I just leave it be?

    Molting at -10 degrees F

I put plastic around the coop windows today but staples it loosely around the edges. I think that's fine for ventilation? Also supposed to get snow so wanting to keep that out

    Molting at -10 degrees F

I have a hen molting and we have a major cold front coming tomorrow. Temps expected at -10 at night with highs in the single digits during the day for a few days. I have no garage, no basement, no heat lamp. She is missing a lot of feathers throughout her belly and chest. Attaching a (not...
